3 stars because this is middle of the road when it comes to these Arduino kits. The instructions are all pictures but not the information (like Ikea) that will help you not make mistakes. The links to the software and manuals are not easy to navigate. The little car did work as advertised after lots of YouTube time and tinkering. I'm totally new to the programming of these (but not new to programming in general). There's an over whelming amount of information on all thing Arduino on the web. It will make your head hurt, but in a fun way. If you are new to Arduino, I'd start with a kit that allows you to tinker with lots of small tasks so you can grasp the programming and the software. There's to many mid and higher level programming things going on with this kit, that will cause you no end of grief. And the software you can download for this kit is not well commented in the code. So you're at a loss if this stuff is all new to you.The only real bad issue with the kit is the plastic mount for the sonic sensors. It is to small and once you get the sensors pushed into the mount, you are not getting it out. I took some fine sandpaper and widened the openings just a bit.Like almost all of these kinds of kits, you can upgrade them by adding other modules (ie, bluetooth, etc). My 10 yr old grandson and I built this. For him this was over his head when it came to problem solving and some assembly instructions.

My robot was defective, but I can see why this would be an enjoyable kit to build and get an understanding of robotics. The board is pre-programmed, and all that is needed is assembly. There are some tiny screws, but the chassis is laser-cut and everything fits nicely. My kit was missing a spring connector on the battery box and one of the sonic heads was probably defective and didn't function properly. Tech support was unhelpful in replacing the pieces and they attempted to charge me for return shipping. If it worked as it should have, it would have been a 5 star product.

So after first ordering this I received a incomplete kit missing in fact most of the components I immediately got a hold of the manufacturer to responded right away informing me that they really didn't have anything to do with this since it was through Amazon but they ask for my info so that they could send me a brand new kit anyways and 3 days later me and my boy were happily putting it together all parts accounted for and functioning just phenomenal but do not be happier with the experience to be quite honest good to know that there's still decent people out there

The kit is very easy to assemble and fun to play.The included spare parts are very helpful.I have two suggestions for improvement.First, the code is given as a link to GitHub. While this is great for programmers, beginners may find it difficult to use.Second, the code itself has no documentation. It also seems to be generic to various models of the kit, which makes it difficult to understand.

Kit was decent - easy to build. Software instructions are old and do not apply to current--auto-install doesn't work of the library (get errors). The software never worked. Motor test worked. But NECTest/UltrasonicTest never did. Full Scratch to make the "robot" run had #Define errors, We fixed the Define errors but it didn't help. I don't know if it is a bad wire, bad part or bad software, but the end result is a useless piece of garbage. Will never buy uctronics product again, which makes me sad.

Nice kit, easy build, and plentiful spare parts of hardware in case some are lost. (Yup, I did)Have not programmed it yet as I have just completed it, but I am sure everything will be AOK!A good buy, well sourced and parts are well designed. It is very educational in nature and a good first kit for someone with remedial mechanical skills.I recommend it strongly.

I thought that I was buying a kit that had a bluetooth module. The questions and answers on this page are misleading. My kit does not have any bluetooth capability so I don't think that it matters whether or not I have an android phone.Also I cannot find the Arduino Code online anywhere. Because there is no bluetooth module (and no place on the shield to plug one in), I would not buy this kit again. I would feel a little happier if I could find the arduino code online for this.

Excelent product and custumer service. The smart car works perfect. This company is the best one I had never met. They replaced my product, helped me via team viewer really unbeliable in this times. A so cheap product but a Great responsability and the best custumer service. Congratulations and Thanks. My littles grandsons enjoy their smart car and learning a lot with it
