Amazing wireless router
This router is awesome. We have a large family of 8, all of us have phones, couple tablets in the house, an XBOX, PS4, Dish Network Hopper, we home school and use laptops for that, and I work from Home. Its not usual for there to be 35 devices on our network. I did have two routers in order to handle all the traffic but they would interfere with each other and I was constantly having to reset one or the other. Finally got frustrated and bough this router and WOW, this thing handles all our traffic with absolutely no hang ups. No lagging on the game boxes, no slow downs on our other devices. Can say enough good things about this router. Have only had it a month or so, but so far it has work flawlessly. So very worth the money!

Don't buy it. Run, don't walk, but get away from this router. Four hours of wasted time
First, let me say I have been configuring routers since 1988. And I have been a Linksys fan since before they were ever acquired by Cisco. I've used open source software to build largish mesh networks with the old WRT54G. This is an expensive and apparently powerful router. And I've never seen anything like it. This is the most dicked up POS piece of consumer electronics I have probably ever encountered. It is what happens when you give children access to compilers. It is SO "smart" it just will not allow you to configure the thing. It is incredibly slow on the menus. And it childishly leads you from one "automatic" thing it gets wrong to another. I finally got it up and could get on and off both by ethernet and wireless, got the thing named and passworded, and all that was needed was to set up the Internet connection, which of course it had failed to do automatically. It was there in front of me. And it had a blue linked EDIT right in front of me - just as almost every Linksys router does. But it simply wouldn't activate. No matter what I did, I could NOT get it to let me change the nonexistent Internet connection to anything useful. I have a static IP cable connection, like about 60 million other households. So it is hardly a unique situation. This router is unusable for anything I can image. But the annoyance is from the condescending and slow "automatic" things it tries to do, and does so very very badly. Software is just heroically bad.

Bad boy
It works very well. We have cable service. I have a land line through them with my older router when you would go outside service would be gone. With this new router it will reach 200 feet away from the house. It was much more than we needed, but we got it at a great price on Amazon.

8 LAN ports and great Gigabit WiFi coverage
Big seller for me is the 8 LAN ports to distribute hardwired Gigabit to my Smart TV's, TiVo, Fire-stick, and Xbox. Easy to setup, great WiFi range for everything else, 22 devices in all attached.

So far so good. I bought this giant to replace the wifi ...
So far so good. I bought this giant to replace the wifi on my Uverse Pace 5268AC RG, in the hopes of killing some dead spots in my home and extending the wireless range. Setup was relatively easy by simply placing the Linksys into the DMZ on the Pace, but now having difficulty accessing the router directly. Had to setup Linksys using the app on my phone, and/or the LinksysSmartWifi.com website and do it remotely. Not ideal. Could not setup locally (192.168.1.1) on a hardwired PC because of that. May have to back that setup out and set the Linksys up as an access point instead. As far as the wi-fi goes, it wasn't a whole lot better than the stock wireless out of the Pace, which was surprising. Adjusted the antennas a bit, and I think my dead spots are gone, but just not seeing significant signal improvement and extension of wifi I was expecting from this 8-antenna mammoth. I will update as I play around more, perhaps even relocating the router. Still a good purchase, as I can use one of the mesh extenders upstairs as a last resort to give the bad spots a boost, and hopefully even give me wifi coverage outside. 3000 sq. ft 2 story split-level home. Pace RG/Linksys router located in west end of basement, near the ceiling. Antennas aimed mostly east, north and south.

Died after 6 months - difficult to get a warranty replacement
The unit died after 6 months. I filled out the online form to get a replacement under warranty. it then had me call a phone number where they couldn't help me and they gave me another number to call. I've now filled out the form online and made two phone calls. The woman (difficult to understand) kept telling me that the unit it out of warranty (assuming by serial number) but they will "take my word if I send a receipt to them" that I bought it at a later date. She then explained that this is a problem since I didn't buy it directly from them (Linksys Retail Store???) and that Amazon probably had this in their warehouse for "a couple of years" WTF??? Now I have emailed the Amazon receipt to them and was told to wait a few days for a phone call from them or I can call back again tomorrow. This process is ridiculous! BTW - My new Netgear Nighthawk is working great. This is the last Linksys / Belkin product that I will purchase.

Limited software capabilities
Please compare before buying, very limited software. Range and ethernet ports are OK, but if you need to use advanced features its software lacks a lot.
