Nearly perfect.
I bought a new SSD to revive an old laptop that was stuck with a SATA III HDD. The new SSD is wicked fast, and after cloning the HDD to my SSD with Macrium Reflect, I wiped the HDD and left it permanently installed in this Smart Enclosure. The 5 seconds of power back up, and the auxiliary USB-c port for added power redundancy (5v/3.0A) makes data transfers secure and drama-free.The firmware is upgradable. The LCD screen is easy to read, adjustable, and VERY informative... This is ALMOST the perfect external drive enclosure... I just wish the 4 corner screws were FERROUS metal.Apparently they used aluminum, titanium, or stainless steel. Whatever they are, they LOOK great, but they are A PITA to put in the case. EVERYONE uses steel screws for a reason... they're magnetic and magnetic screw driver tips will hold them when doing delicate work around electronics. These ones don't stick, and they're ultra light so they are EASY to flick across the room, and being so tiny they're impossible to find. Thankfully they included some spares, but that shouldn't be necessary. Just saying... magnetic capable screws would have been better.Ultimately, it's a perfect SATA III case. There is a 10 second power backup version, or this 5 second one. The difference is the size of the capacitor inside. Otherwise they're identical. 10 seconds standard would have been nice though. Its kind of hard to RE-PLUG IN a drive if you bump the cable out accidentally and do so in 5 seconds. Like you need to be Johnny on the spot in that situation. A 30 second version would be nice in the event you had a blackout or your computer rebooted from updates in the background or something crazy.

Gadget Geek’s Dream
Simple and easy to know exactly what’s going on. Digital display keeps you up to date with data protection that provides alerts to prevent things like crashes before they happen. The dual protocol acceleration will make managing projects even faster. Overall I gave it 5 stars for quality, improvement, and price.

Good compatability and speed; excellent tech support
Bought this for a large capacity enterprise SATA SSD which was not able to initialize in many other enclosures. Same thing happened here, thought it was a power issue (the SSD needs about 6W); but in this case the DockCase tech support quickly determined that I needed to increase the amount of time the enclosure waits for the SSD to power-up. Having done that it works properly, and the graphic interface is very nice for little more cost than featureless generic alternatives.Careful with the glass front touchscreen, and recommend adding some rubber feet on your own to prevent sliding and help with heat dissipation. The ability to supplement the line power with an additional USB-C power delivery charger is a welcome and unique feature - there are few if any 2.5" USB-C enclosures on the market which have this feature. Kudos to the engineering team.

Excellent Quality, Many Features
This case is great works flawlessly and has many diagnostic features to check your drive status without a computer. I used it mainly to clone and upgrade my laptops HDD to a SSD, I will continue to use it as a portable enclosure. DockCase is quality products I have a couple now. You can trust the customer service too they will help if you have any issues. 5/5 stars ✨

Immature product, or did I get lemon? Disappointing!
Disappointingly, this hard drive enclosure not only failed to meet my expectations, but it didn't work at all. Despite inserting my 2TB Micron 1100 SSD (formatted with two APFS partitions) correctly, it wasn't recognized when connected to the USB-C port at the back of my Mac Studio running the latest Ventura OS. Switching to the USB-C port at the front resulted in sluggish speeds and random disconnections. Several times, the enclosure even didn't allow me to eject the drives at all. The Disk Utility reported one of the drives as corrupted and irreparable. Fortunately, my SSD was unharmed when connected back to my old $10 USB 3.1 to SSD to SATA adapter. I am returning this enclosure.

This is nice but does not seem to work with Samsung 8TB drives
I put a Samsung 8TB drive in this and it could not stay on. It kept rebooting itself and dismounting etc.I returned it and got a fresh unit and it did the same thing. So I assume incompatibility.I put a cheap 2TB drive in it and now it seems to work as intended.Nice unit except for this important limitation.
