TL; DR - very useful product, support is great, product works well, makes your car safer to operate Pros: * some of the best support I’ve received from any company, ever (eg, there’s a startup chime that I don’t like, and after asking if there’s a way to disable, they sent me a firmware patch in a day) * very good camera, broad field of view provides clearer image of what’s behind you than traditional mirror * several installation options, can work with any car * option to have screen display active at all times, or primarily as mirror with touch-activated display * option to mount on top of OEM mirror with straps, OR replace OEM mirror Cons * not specific to this product, but the installation is pretty hands-on and will require routing wires inside your car, splicing into wires, and connecting to your fuse panel. If you like performing basic maintenance on your car (eg, oil change), then you may be comfortable with the installation. If you’ve done a stereo installation, you’ll be fine. * i wish there was a single wire connecting camera, gps, and power to the mirror rather than three, it would make for a cleaner installation. This is purely cosmetic. I have a couple of cars, and my newer car has a backup camera. When I drive my late 90s BMW, which has no backup camera, I wonder how we lived without them for so long. I wanted to add a camera, but have no screen to display the camera signal, and didn’t want to put in a screen and tear up my dash. Even if I did want to do that, it would be far, far more expensive than this option. To install the mirror, either use the included straps to attach to your OEM mirror (30 second install), or buy the optional OEM mount connector. Your OEM mirror twists off the mount connected to your windshield. Simply twist the OEM mirror off, and twist the Wolfbox on in it’s place. Be sure to measure as the Wolfbox may be wider (larger mirror) than your OEM mirror, and that could interfere with your sun visors. From here, there’s a 5 min installation if you don’t care about being able to see wires, and then a much longer install if you don’t want to see wires. Same for any of these products. After you’ve mounted the mirror, there are three wires that connect to the Wolfbox mirror: (1) power, (2) GPS sensor (optional), (3) backup camera. (1) Power wire is small with right angle USB-C connector to mirror. options include cigarette lighter, which is the easiest but least attractive, and wires to connect to your fuse box for a stealthy installation. Different cars have their fuse boxes is different locations. Most are in the cabin under the dash. Mine is in the engine bay, on the other side of the firewall, so I had to splice into switched and unstitched circuits for power. They have an option to connect to your car’s OBM port, but I did not try that. (2) GPS sensor wire is quite thin and the sensor is about 1 inch square that is supposed to be mounted horizontal and has an adhesive on the back. I think Wolfbox could improve on where to get a GPS signal, and this connection is optional. (3) backup camera installation is the most involved. The wire will need to be routed from the mirror to the rear of the car, the camera needs to be mounted, and the wire needs to tap into a reverse light circuit to sense when the car is in reverse. Routing through your car is dependent on the model and YouTube is a great resource for understanding how people do this. Likely the camera is mounted on your trunk lid, and this means the wire needs to be routed through the trunk and then through the channel that carries wires from your trunk to the trunk lid, which can be a challenge in some cars. This is where I spent the most time on the installation.

I have been researching car cams for about 6 months since a very, very minor fender bender where a guy tried to enter my lane without checking, Every good car cam had its good points but seems every one has compromises I did not like. I was NOT impressed by ANY of the tiny screens on the cams that could be tucked out of the way and the ones with larger screens risked blocking my view. When I spotted the G900, with an 8M, 4K, 170degree front cam and a 4m, 2.5K, 150 degree rear cam AND it used the entire rear view mirror as a display, I knew I had found one that I could live with. The lack of network connectivity is a small ding in the design as it means that other than reviewing the files on the large cam display, which works quite well, it is simple enough to pop the SD card and view on my mac with DisplayCamViewer. The unit DOES fully support 256GB C10 U3 SD cards despite some of the docs stating 128GB as the max. Installation was straightforward. I chose to mount the rear cam at the top center inside rear window as it simplified the installation and I did not need the backup aids that come when wired to the backup lights. I also installed the wired power adapter which activates the parking monitor features. The one hiccup in the installation was that I had ordered the direct attach mount to use rather than strapping the G900 over the existing rear view mirror. Well, my car uses the twist lock type mount. I was able to find an adapter that will allow me to use the direct mount, but it was twice the price of the mount! Oh well, until the adapter arrives, the G900 is strapped to my existing mirror and it works well enough. I found that the GPS worked just as well tucked inside the front edge of the headliner as exposed on the dash, so that is where I located the receiver. The included wire to the rear cam was more than sufficient to reach all the way to a license plate mount for those planning such. The display is excellent! It is bright, but the fact that it is also slightly mirrored lends to reflections which were distracting. I ordered the anti-glare film which resolved the reflections at a cost of slight loss in sharpness, but a good compromise. Installing the wired power adapter was simple. I used the interior bulb circuit for the B+ and the accessory outlet for the switched side. The front cam video capture is outstanding. The cam does have some physical aiming ability but it is SO wide a viewing angle (170 degrees) that as long was it is pointed more or less forward it covers way more than you can typically see from the driver's seat. The video are captured in full 4K as the sensor is a full 8Mpixel Sony unit. The rear cam while slightly below the front in quality it is non the less outstanding, allowing you to read license plate numbers when viewed on a computer. I give the unit 5 stars as overall it exceeded my expectations even with the few minor niggles here and there. I wish the SD card was on the bottom or side as it is a bit of pain to extract from the top. Esthetically, I wish the connections were on the back rather than the top as it would just look cleaner but that is certainly not a big deal. One adjustment that I found a bit distracting at first as that with a rear view mirror your eyes focus at near infinity. With a rear view cam display you focus to the display which is counter to the years of driving muscle memory. It is no different than refocusing to look at the dash, but does take some getting used to. For those that think they must have an app and network connectivity, I really don't see this as a big issue as for the most part, you won't be reviewing the videos on a regular basis. The goal of a car cam is to capture things without fuss for when you DO need or want a record of an event.

This a much better option that clippin gthe wolfbox to your factory mirror. However, if you offroad or have a lot of bass in your audio system, it will slowly wiggle itself downward from the position you originally put it in. There is no way to tighten it so that it doesn't droop after a while. If you barely touch it, it will move. I might try using epoxy or some sort of black plastic weld to glue it in the position I want.

I have a Wolfbox G840S and installed it on my 2014 Ford Focus ST MK3 and while the included straps are great for people who do not want to permanantly install an aftermarket smart mirror or just testing it out to see if you like or can use one. In my case, it worked and the install went without a big hitch. Because i have a small car, and I installed the rear camera on the inside, I am left with a long rear cam wire which you have to figure where to tuck that excess in. I found a rear pillar that you can take off to do so, but you may need to find a pillar not a side airbag to do so. Back to the bracket. I got this after a few days of usage of the rubber bands that come with every Wolfbox rear view dash cam, but I wanted to make it feel more OEM. Also if you have a loud bass heavy system, you may need to use this bracket to really stiffen out the mount. The installation is a bit different, but in Ford's they are pretty much universal. Use a small torx or allen wrench or even a small flathead screw driver and insert it from the bottom and then use a little pressure away from the glass to pry the clip holding the stock mirror and then just tug the mirror up against the headliner and you are golden. There's a bunch of videos online and most will work in your case, depending on what car you have and if you have OnStar, other electronics, etc.... Just do your research before ordering this bracket. I got this pretty quick and was able to install this in about 10 minutes. On using a Wolfbox webcam rear view mirror, you will need to use a little knife or exacto knife to pry off the rubber stoppers on the back and then use a small phillips to extract the for screws. Once you have taken the screws out, you will need to remove the plates and the hooks from the mirror and store them away in case you want to reuse them again. Install the bracket and make sure the bracket seats where you removed the screws. If it doesn't seat, make sure you removed the plates so you can see down. The bracket uses that indentation for a more secure fit. Once you have the bracket fitted over the holes, use the exisiting screws and screw the bracket down. Then take the windshield mount and orient the bracket where you can see the screw on the bottom. Pick up the mirror and just make sure you have it installed correctly. Not a big deal if not, you can just swivel the ball joints if you installed the mount upside down. It's just a bit more work to do so. Either works. Go to your car and slide the new mount over the anchor point of the windshield. Then use a philps or flathead to tighten up the retaining screw and you are done with the new install. Plug in your wires and you are golden. A great kit that makes your Wolfbox rear view mirror look like stock. A must have add on accessory. I say moreso than the wiretaps!

As a Tacoma owner, I can attest to the perennial struggle with rear visibility. Add a truck bed canopy and car seats to the mix, and you're essentially driving blind as it pertains to your rear view. That's why the WOLFBOX digital rearview mirror has been an great me. The clarity and wide-angle view from the digital rearview camera, mounted above my license plate, are phenomenal. My view is no longer obstructed by headrests or car seats, and I can see so much more of what's behind me. This alone has vastly improved my driving confidence and safety. I recently drove in the rain, fully expecting that stuck-on raindrops would obstruct the rear camera's view. At a standstill, this did happen, but as soon as I got going, the movement caused the raindrops to clear. I also think that adding some ceramic spray coating to the lens helped significantly, making the lens more hydrophobic and repelling water effectively. Installation was very manageable. The most challenging part, as I imagine it would be for most truck owners, was running the camera wire to the rear. However, for cars and SUVs, this would likely be a breeze. I have a Tacoma double cab with a 5-ft bed, and I was pleasantly surprised to find that the included camera cable was sufficient – I didn't even need the extension cable I pre-emptively purchased. For a super clean and integrated look, I highly recommend getting the WOLFBOX mirror mounting OEM bracket and the license plate bracket. They make for a tidy and solid installation. Beyond the improved visibility, the WOLFBOX offers a suite of features that provide incredible peace of mind. The Wi-Fi connectivity and accompanying app are incredibly convenient for pulling videos. I recently used this feature to check footage after thinking I'd sped through a camera – thankfully, I was only a couple of miles over the limit and didn't trigger it! The ADAS and BSD features, while a bit sensitive on the lowest settings, are a welcome layer of safety. You can always adjust or turn them off if they're too intrusive. What truly sets WOLFBOX apart, in my experience, is their outstanding customer service. I had a couple of questions and issues, and their team was incredibly responsive, providing full resolutions and guidance. Their reputation for being highly responsive to customers was a major factor in my decision to go with WOLFBOX, and they certainly lived up to it. Having both a dash cam and this rearview camera constantly recording while driving is a significant relief and offers vital protection against liability in the event of an accident. If there were room for improvement, it would be that the mirror, when the screen is off, could be more reflective. I still use it as a standard mirror to see what my kids are doing in the backseat. This is a very minor issue and I suspect that if the mirror were more reflective then there would be other issues with visibility.

Wolfbox G850 review 1. Installation - my installer actually owned a Wolfbox so installation was easy for him 2. Initial bug fixing- as I drove away from the installer I noticed that the video display would keep shutting off and required I tap the screen or the power button for the display to turn on again. A call to Wolfbox suggested I run the power check diagnostics. Mid-way thru I realized that the screen saver feature was on by default( ?). Turned it off and now the video feed is on all the time. Possibly the screen saver feature is for those who want to use the G850 like a regular glass rear view mirror. Note: the G850 with video feed off can function as a regular rear view mirror (but the quality is not as bright as a factory/regular glass rear view mirror). Also the unit randomly emits a “bing” sound and I do not know why or what it’s doing. 3. Connecting WiFi- followed the instructions. It was unusual in that for other devices you usually go thru connecting your new device to your own personal Wifi. The steps take you thru connecting to a Wolfbox WiFi (which did not initially work for me). Tried it again the next day and it tried the Wolfbox wifi then immediately connected to my home Wifi without asking for my Wifi password like it hacked in on its own. Note: a quirk the unit has its after getting in my car and driving away the G850 tries to open the Wifi connection on its own and I have to turn the Wifi feature off as I’m too far from home anyways. Irritating characteristic. 4. Video quality - it’s not Blu Ray. But considering sensor size not bad. In the rain however the rear view camera becomes useless with glare (picture attached). Need to try out some glass treatments to see if it will help repel water. 5. Positioning the G850 - if you are to use the rear camera video feed exclusively you can position the G850 and rotate it toward you as much as it can (since it won’t affect what you can see unlike a regular/factory rear view mirror). It may however, depending on how much to turn it, affect how much you can point the front view camera and keep the view centered. You can run out of play in the front camera if the unit is positioned too far in a direction). Note: important you compare the units rear view perspective vs your cars factory back-up camera. The G850 makes things in the rear view appear much closer that they are compared to my back up camera. You may wind up parking way too far from the object behind you. Similarly you’ll need to get used to the different perspective the G850 gives you on the outer edges of its view vs what you are used to seeing in your side view mirrors. It does give you a more (not complete) view of your blindsides though. Anyways, first impressions from two weeks of use. So far happy even with its quirky beeping and turning on the Wifi on its own for no reason. The safety issue during the rain, if it cannot be addressed, I may have to resort to using the unit as a regular glass mirror in the rain.

Where do I even start. I got my first one (and older version) about 3 years ago and never looked back since. I put the time and energy into properly integrating a full rear mirror replacement with this device, made possible as the screen is a mirror when not powered - essential for redudancy - it's sleek, functional and dramatically increases my visibility whilst driving and practically eliminates all blind spots. It took a bit of getting used to but after a few days it's essential kit. Not to mention satisfying the requirement of a dash cam as well as 24/7 timelasp security taping. I mean really why would you daily drive a car without this product??? There is absolutely no time delay in the feed either and I have full trust in what I see through the device. CUSTOMER SERVICE - Incredible, responsive, helpful, free replacement parts / help and eager to do so. Not only the product I like but I will be a returning customer when needed. ONE CRITISISM - Wolfbox, the aux connectors really are not fit for function in this use case. Whilst great for stationary desktops they are not engineered for the high vibrational / temperature environments for a car, and I did have the first product fail on me in this manner. The other USB-C connectors however are perfect and have not failed :) Thanks for a truly quality product.
