Great product! Does exactly what I needed it to do - once is worked out how to use it! The instructions are baffling and I spent a few days trying to figure them out - no need! Just plug it in and away you go! Great value for money, lightweight and easy to use.

Worked out of the box as a "wedge": that is, plug it into a USB socket and any valid scanned code is passed to the computer exactly as though you were physically typing the digit keys on a keyboard. No instructions or website reference, though this was not a problem. Came with a booklet of barcodes. Scanning these re-configures various obscure options that you might conceivably need in order to fit in with existing software, notably automatically adding (or not) an "ENTER" key after the digits have been sent.NB: there are many evolved "standards" for bar codes, including length, and initial country code. I was using EA13 (13 digits) and some experimental home-brew software/shareware for printing and reading back bar codes on numerous documents. If designing a system from scratch is important to be aware of the basic structure (notably format code, country code, and leading zero inclusion) of the bar code system. A faulty system design leads to the scanner, correctly, refusing to accept a code, with no hint as to why. If used on existing codes (e.g. retail products) this is not an issue.Very cheap and a useful way of learning a bit of IT hardware/software, albeit somewhat dated given QT codes and hand-held devices with cameras . Remember it is USB-cabled, rather than wifi. Would equally suit school computer club or "Internet of Things" school club. (Does not work on zebras.)

Beep
A nice loud beep and easy to use, struggles picking up some barcodes but that may be how I have them printed

Great 1-D barcode scanner
Works great in our warehouse - we bought three of these and are happy with them. Good, clear light for scans, fast. Supports far more barcode formats than we need, but no harm in that. Manual included with setup codes if required. Straight keyboard wedge mode needed no setup for us. Recommended and we would re-order if needed.

Great for ancient non-nerds
Needed to be able to scan book barcodes, and I do not have a smartphone. Dragged myself into the 21st century and ordered the scanner on line. It appeared next day. Plugged in the USB - and it worked instantly!THANK YOU!
