Great Cruise Control Device for Motorcycles
I bought this throttle lock for my motorcycle to use on long trips. It works with friction to lock the throttle where your want it. It comes with four friction pads, so it should work on just about any motorcycle. It is high quality, made of medal and is easy to install. It's not cheaply priced, but at just under $170 it should work within any budget. The hardest part of installing was determining which friction pad to use. Just watch the videos that are available, and installation will be a breeze. I installed mine in less than an hour. It is also easy to use. Just use your thumb to engage, or disengage. It's not meant for use in city riding where there is a lot of changing gears, but it is great once you're cruising out on the open road. I recommend this product to others.

excellent product and customer service
I ordered the Bottom Kit, but found out after receiving it that I needed the Top Kit version. I contacted Atlas and asked if they would do an exchange. They emailed me prepaid postage and I shipped mine back. The turn around time after they received the one I sent them was about a day. All told it took less than two weeks to do the exchange and it went smoothly with no hassle. I was very pleased with the customer service. The product itself seems to be of a high quality build. The instillation instructions are clear and work as they are written. I believe there are also videos available online. The product is very well engineered both in terms of instillation and operation. Once you figure out the correct friction pad to use the instillation only takes a few minutes and it operates as a fairly simple friction lock. It does a good job of holding the throttle in place and can easily be twisted back to off in an emergency without needing to turn the lock off. I rarely write reviews, but this product impressed me enough that I decided it deserved it. I will note one thing to watch out for when installing. The instructions say to use the largest friction pad that will fit. However you need to test it and make sure that if you twist the throttle on it will snap all the way back as long as the lock is off. On my instillation a small rubber seam on the throttle housing was just enough to catch on the friction pad and prevent the throttle from snapping back. It was easily fixed by using a smaller pad. This was barely worth noting, but I suppose if someone was in a rush and didn't test it properly it could cause a problem.

Needs better instructions - otherwise works great
Expensive, but it works great, after you figure out how to install it. The trick to getting it on correctly. is to understand how it works and where the pressure point is. Uses a tork screw (comes with the wrench) for installation and post adjustments .. so don't lose it! This is my third set .. for my (3) bikes. I've tried cheaper models, only to almost wreck my motorcycle when they don't release properly or blow my wrist out fighting the throttle.

Quality Build & Simple to Install
Fairly easy to install. Comes in a top mount or bottom mount same price. I went with the bottom version to keep an uncluttered bar look. Once you achieve the needed clearance for the included friction pads super simple to install, just 1 fastener. My bike came with 1/16" between the grip flange & throttle housing. I contacted Atlas support got detailed helpful instructions emailed next day. Problem solved & device works as advertised! Like the on/off button controls. Some others were poorly designed and really obvious when installed. The Atlas looks "quality" and very unobtrusive visually. If you don't know what it is most just assume it came on the bike. Very happy with its function so my investment was well spent. Electronic controls are very pricey and you still have to install control switches. See photo for finished look. Note: you may have to adjust position to get it where you like it depending on how fast you intend to cruise. My first attempt was too far under at interstate speed. Works easy to engage at speed now.

Do not Buy
Avoid for 2025 Honda Transalp. Complete Junk. Will not hold throttle position. Tried size rubber that was supposed to be the fit and does not hold position! Next size rubber up is to big. Do not buy. You will be dissapointed on a Transalp. Worked fine on my KTM 390 adventure but not on my Transalp. My Couson is having the same problem on his Transalp same year.

Next best thing to factory cruise control
It may seem like a lot of $ for one small part, but the benefit is well worth it. Aftermarket cruise control will cost you 4-5 times as much. I tried the cheap throttle locks and none would hold speed with the vibration of the bike. This thing is spot on. Push in the lock button and then adjust the throttle to the speed you want. It will hold the throttle steady and you can make minor adjustments for going up or down hills or just changing desired speed by slight movement of the throttle. Hit the release button and you are back to normal. Installation takes about 1/2 hour and if you ever remove it, you will never know it was there. I have handguards on the bar ends and that did not pose any installation issue. The value of being able to take your hand off the throttle to ease cramps and improve circulation on long rides is invaluable. This is on my Suzuki V-strom 1000. I would suggest the bottom version unless it won't fit your bike.

Useful, but could use improvement.
Purchased this for a 5,000+ mile road trip for my bike with no cruise control. The first chunk of the trip it worked great with no issues besides the occasional large bump that would throw it off. However once I got around 2,000 miles into the trip it started to slip. It wouldn’t hold it where I set it, it would gradually slow down even after trying to change the pad and tighten the screw. Even though this was annoying, when it was engaged it made it so I could barely be using any pressure at all to keep the throttle where I wanted it to help relax my hand. The next issue is the price. As many other reviews said, the price is too high for what it is. Instructions weren’t great but it’s not too hard to figure out. Even with its issues, it made my trip possible and I would use it again on my next trip. Overall I would give it 3.5 stars and hopefully atlas will make some minor improvements to make it a great product.

Atlas Bottom kit for 2011 H-D Heritage Softail Classic
I tried several other throttle locks that were advertised to be compatible with my 2011 Harley-Davidson Heritage Softail Classic. They were not compatible and I had to send both back to Amazon. However the atlas throttle lock is an ingenious design and it is very well made. The instructions were easy to follow and I even looked at a YouTube video that made it even more simple to install it. It took 10 minutes to put it on my machine and then I had to wait about 3 or 4 days until the weather got decent enough where I could go out and ride and test it out. I don't ride in the snow and I don't ride in the rain. This is a very well engineered and thought out device and the Harley of mine has enough torque that once you set the throttle at a certain RPM and speed it'll pretty much hold it there even though you go up and down slight grades. Now of course when you go up or down a steep hill you're going to have to readjust the position of your throttle just a little bit but you don't have to release the device from holding your throttle. I like this throttle lock design and it is going to save my right wrist. I have surgery due on my right wrist within the next month or so and so I haven't been able to ride but now that I have this throttle lock from Atlas it's a simple thing to just go out and ride and have a good time and not have to worry about my sore aching right wrist. Thank you Atlas for a great device
