Top quality, excellent value, 100% open source hardware compatible.
GL.iNet GL-AR300M-Lite Mini Router, Wi-Fi Converter, OpenWrt Pre-installed, Repeater Bridge, 300Mbps High Performance, One Ethernet port, 16MB Nor flash, 128MB RAM, OpenVPN, Tor Compatible This is excellent value and high quality device and is ideal for IoT development as well as a travel router. I bought one for evaluation in November 2017 and just came on to buy two more (11th Jan 2018) but Amazon seems to have blocked the listing even though the manufacturers say they have stock with Amazon. Please let me buy some more Amazon :)

Pretty decent piece of kit
This is working really well and gives me WiFi throughout my flat. Previously I could only get WiFi if I was sat by the front window because I'm using my neighbour's WiFi ;-) I nearly gave this five stars because now I've got it working, it's working brilliantly. However, it took a bit of time and an email to customer support to work out how to set it up. Customer support was excellent and they got me up and running straight away, but it wasn't easy to find the customer support email address. Also, I'm not entirely sure how secure this thing would be. I won't go into details here for obvious reasons, but I reckon it'd be fairly crackable if you put your mind to it. It also seems to make the speed of the WiFi connection slower. Having said that, if you need military strength security and you want blisteringly quick data transfer you're not going to be buying a ÂŁ20 router from Amazon. Basically, if you're looking for something that'll take a weak WiFi signal and rebroadcast it, this is an excellent choice at a seriously reasonable price.

A must-have gadget when travelling to China
First of all, it's even smaller than I thought! Bought this to run the JetApple Internet booster program. It works perfectly. Now, I can watch my favourite TV shows in China, use Google and Facebook with no problem. Thanks to the GL.iNet and JetApple, my Internet life back alive! BTW, the JetApple has 30-day free trial service now. Just need this gadget.

Its ok but only for traveling
Errrm. It does the job. What i didnt realise is that when running the vpn, you can only get a maximum of 11 or so mbps due to the processing restraints in the unit. Its fine for miwt things but 1080p video streaming can suffer. And you can forget 4k streaming. I foubd a better way was to run my vpn off the pc and share my pc's connection like a hotspot. That way you retain 99% of you full speed potential

Much better than various competition models
Works flawlessly and uses a proper small router/CPE OS. I have it upgraded to LEDE from the stock OpenWRT, no issues on upgrade. The only caveat is that it is missing any feet and some of the cooling is from underneath. Either mount it vertically or use a spare set of sticky feet.

Great for travelling!
This is really good. Very small and portable and great when travelling abroad. Put a firestick or the like in a hotel tv, connect the router to your VPN service (that's really easy in the interface) and you can watch TV from home.

slightly narrow range otherwise perfect for purpose.

Awesome
It's really useful, if you have VPN subscription. The setup is not always obvious, took me hours to find out how's working.

GL-Inet

Great little device, bad case design masquerades as a power problem
I really like this device for travel. I have an echo dot that comes with me and it automatically connects to my gl-inet network by prior configuration. On travel, - I turn on the router, - connect to the gl-inet network with my tablet, - configure the router to connect to the hotel network in as a repeater in WISP mode, -finally I log into hotel network with my tablet. Now the dot, all of my family's devices and the camera I travel with work. Note the camera is the cheap wyze that records on motion or sound (12 secs sent to the amazon cloud). It is not the fastest device though we do watch Netflix just fine with it and we don't have any issue with some Hotel's idiotic policy of only using two devices sinc all they can see is the gl-inet device. The cons: - I thought it wouldn't power up.... the problem is the pc board is loose in the case and mmy micro sd power connector juct could not reach deeply enough into the case for a good connection. Flex the plastic a bit if it will not power on and insert the plug deeper. In my case, I popped off the bottom plastic snapin cover, pulled out the board and plugged in in, - Confusing user interface for non technical types (also a big plus). All most of you need to know for a travel router configuration is REPEATER-WISP. DONE. - On the manufacturer website this is an end-of-life product. Despite the cons, this was a great purchase for us. DIYers, you can get root by design. Enjoy.

Excellent, vraiment
