The lighter shades for me are too subtle. End up with metallic blonde hair. Beats grey but not for me. The darker shades unfortunately, can initially look like you poured tar on your head, whilst hunting for compliments. Does fade after several washes though. This should be their go to. Natural colour, not too light or dark. Natural looking highlights. If your willing to have visible greys round the back and sides due to frequent haircuts, the stark difference is less noticable. Or just shave the hair right down to a 1 1/2 blade. Fade it in though. This done with the darker shade looks like a skull cap. Dont do this. Probably dye it every 4 to 5 weeks to maintain natural healthy look. Being clear, do not spill this on anything. Will destroy counter tops or sinks after several minutes. I just want to change the colour of my hair.** A: I would say that the darker colours at least will certainly also dye the hair to a different shade. The lighter shades of dye may not be as powerful as actual hair dyes meant for this, so whilst they will bring some lighter shade present, it may not make a dark brown hair blonde. What I like about this product IS the fact that it is not like a "paint" on hair, like some dyes are. It maintains some of the natural differences in hair tone, and also does not shine like most dyes do, making it so obvious that you have dyed your hair. **Q: How does this defer from the one for ladies 7.1 ash? I have dark hair, but my hairdresser recommended using the light brown as this still keeps the natural colour but just works on the grey. I have short hair so do not need to use the whole contents in one go, instead I use a pipette to measure out a small but equal amount from each of the included bottles, so one box lasts me a few months.
