Finally!...relief for our dog's paws.
We really, really like this product. Our German Shepherd's paws were terribly rough, and would even crack occasionally. We tried many of the wax based products out there and they seemed to make his paws worse. I don't think wax is the way to go for dry paws. This product is more like a heavy-duty lotion/cream. His paws were better even after the first day! There is a slight minty scent (quite pleasant, actually) and it dissipates within a minute or so. We are so glad we finally came across this product after wasting so much money on wax products that didn't help at all. He doesn't mind the scent, he doesn't try to lick it off, there is no staining to our floors or carpets, and IT WORKS!

Works fantastic, keeps paws soft
I got this for my blue heeler as her paws have started to dry and crack. A little bit goes a long way, so this should last for a very long time. I find it best to put the cream on late at night when she is tired and laying in bed as that allows the cream to soak in before she wipes it all off on the carpet. It has a great scent and the next morning she wakes up and her paws are soft and healthy. I use it probably 3-4 times a month, but I'm sure I could use it twice a week and keep her paws soft all the time. Great product

Great cream at a great price
What stroke me first as a concerned fur baby parent, was the strong mint smell permeating from the container. I was worried this product had menthol in it, and for some ungodly reason, my puppy absolutely loves mint, I knew she would try to lick it off her paws and possibly do further damage to her already cracked paws from the winter. Upon further inspection and research into the ingredients, I had found none to be all too concerning, and I performed the taste test on myself to make sure this product was safe for my pup. To my surprise, it didn't taste like chemicals and wasn't too minty either.I had purchased this as my pups paws were getting severely hurt form the winter weather (It was her first winter). I put it on her feet as soon as I got it int he morning, before our walk. I realized that applying the cream just before a walk must have loosened and moisturized her paw pad too much, because later in the day a piece of her paw pad came off. I was very concerned, luckily there was no blood, but it certainly demonstrated that this stuff works incredibly to moisturize, albeit, a little too well. I don't blame the product, it was a combination of the shape her pads were in previously, the 20-degree weather, along with applying it before the walk. It was recipe for disaster.I recommend applying only at night, possibly after a good run so your pup sleeps rather than licking off all the cream, like my little girl. in cold months, what works best for us is moisturizing almost nightly, you don't want to overdo it. Now that it is a little warmer outside, we moisturize about every 3 days, seems to work best for her, but every pup is different.

Most awesome paw pad cream!!
My lab had very dry and cracked paw pads. He was always licking them and it made them even drier.I could tell a difference after the first time I rubbed this on his paw pads. That evening they were already softer. He’s also getting up from the tile floor with greater ease. Before he’d slip and slide trying to get up, and it must have been painful. I’m ordering more as soon as I’m finished with this.

The mint odor made it a no go.
His product has a peppermint minty smell to it and My dog freaked when he smelt it on his elbows. I wanted to use it for his poor dry paws but there's no way he will let that stuff near them, I was lucky to get it on one elbow. Now every time he sees the container he runs away so I can't even put it on his elbows. Mind you he isn't a wimpy dog, he is a 96lb pitbull. The smell was just too much for him. I wish it was odorless or not minty if anything.

Neat!
The product came just as described and before estimated delivery. While the product has no taste, it does have a strong menthol smell. After opening it, my nostrils were immediately bombarded. Worried, I will admit I dipped my pinky in a tasted it. To my pleasant surprise, there was no taste whatsoever. No mint, no menthol, nothing! This cream does not leave any kind of residue, wet or dry. I have créme colored carpets and a tan, microfiber couch. Not stains, no discoloration, nothing. Not even immediately after application. The cream, however, is not “deep moisturizing”. While it does moisturize, even after daily use for two weeks my puppy’s pads are still very rough. I am blaming the harsh, northern Michigan winters though! Definitely worth the price for the product!

Protecta Pad 5 stars, Works great, not greasy, you don't use much,
This is the first time I purchased this Protecta pad. It is thick and sorta reminds me of how the paste Elmer's Glue smelled when I was a kid. It has helped his dry paws and he has pressure sores from old age on his ankles and elbows. It has helped a lot. Its thick so it stays on good. You don't need much at all. I will buy this again. If it ever runs out. I have been using it for about a month now and haven't made a dent in it. It is not greasy. Does not leave marks on my light tan carpet.

Love this product
Love this product! I know a lot of people complained about the mint smell bothering their dogs. It smells like wintergreen - like lifesavers wintergreen mints. SO good I wanted to use it! But, I make my pups treats with mint in it so mine personally didn't mind the mint smell. Nice soft puppy paws in my house now! It was a little greasy and left some paw prints on my hardwood floor, but I think that comes with any lotion. Definitely would buy again!
