Add spanner, PTFE tape, sealant and don't go overboard. - Perfect, especially for the price. Brass fitting is much easier rather than my existing nylon one. The fill is nearly silent, with a semi-quiet 'donk' at when closing. Instructions were brief, but it's pretty easy to figure out how to use it. The adjustableness is a bit fiddly once in, but as there's a lot to adjust, it's really quite easy to get the level right too. Had no problems at all, I'm a total amateur and had it fitted in 20 mins. I recommend PTFE tape, and some sort of sealant, I had some LS-X hanging around. UPDATE: I've fitted two of these now (limescale problems), and they've both been brilliant. I managed to break one by tightening it up too much (no need to!) and not holding onto it, which snapped the arm to the basket. My own fault for trying to do it alone. I also had a bit of trouble with getting the water to cut off smoothly, but a washer/weight on top of the bucket solved it perfectly for me. As other have said, watch out for the insert that blocks/covers the inlet hole! There's a small cone of clear plastic inside. Stick your finger in the brass hole and pull it out before you connect up. Otherwise you will have trouble... Review: Feeling flushed. - This is great value and very easy to fit. Took 15 minutes from start to finish, including scraping a load of plumbers mate out of the way from a previous fitting. It appears well made and sturdy and was a perfect replacement for the previous inlet valve. It works perfectly, not too noisy and fast filling. I hasten to add, I am female and have never fitted one before. Easy Peasy. Can you please confirm if this has that?** A: The valve is actually telescopic and so extendable to the required height of pretty much any cistern. If you look closely at the image you will see that the lower portion of the valve is narrower and fits inside the upper portion. You can take a small clip out of the assembly middle and then raise or lower the top section to make it exactly right for the cistern that you are fitting it to. I believe you will find this a suitable replacement for just about any bottom entry valve. I fitted it to a modern dual flush cistern that was only a year old (very hard water area so the original clogged) and it works a treat. Hope that helps. **Q: I have a top flush cistern with old ball cock filler can I take all that out and this would work??** A: I replaced an old ball cock with one of these. However mine was faulty and did not fully close off the water when the cistern was full so caused an overflow. I ended up getting a similar thing from Wickes. **Q: Is the water meant to come out of the spout at the top, as the one we have just fitted it seems to fill through the body?** A: No the water does not come out of the spout, I'm not even sure what the spout is for. Highly recommend. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ flushed with success!!!! *by D***E on 27 November 2013* Had to replace the inlet mechanism on a corner toilet as the original went to the great plumbing graveyard in the sky. Chose this as it was a good price and had a brass Bottom. I did have difficulty fitting it but this was not due to the valve, butt the toilet's position. The entrance was at the backside of the cistern which is a corner one as I mentioned, so the brass bottom stuck out underneath right in the corner of the room and was difficult to get the tool in to tighten the nut. I followed the instructions on the setting for the water level and it filled to the correct height after a very minor adjustment on the screw adjuster. I find it a tad noisy on the fill and that's the only bad thing I can say about it. It is causing me earache as it disturbes my lady if anyone uses it in the early hours. Probably would not have noticed except it is the upstairs loo, so sounds even louder. Hence the 4* rating. I would recommend it for anyone who wants to do the replacement as a DIY project. Had I called out a plumber it would have probably cost me in excess of Β£80, so I saved my self over Β£70, what can I do with Β£70, no you can't have it I'm too much of a scrooge( was going to put a tight A**E) for that.
