Nellie's Dishwasher Powder | Unscented Dishwasher Detergent | 500 Scoops

I’ve tried almost every non toxic dishwasher formula out there. Nellie’s is my favorite! It works and the price is good compared to other brands. You only need a tablespoon per load. I love that it’s a plant-based, phosphate-free and made without harsh synthetic fragrances, chlorine, or dyes. I also use their laundry detergent!

After educating myself and researching better products for my family I decided to switch to Nellie’s dishwasher detergent. Free of plastics and all the nastys we don’t want to wash our dishes with. Works well, and is a nontoxic product. This is a win all around.

This dishwasher soap does a excellent job. My silverware shines like it was polished. Highly recommend it. This item I will never do without.

I've been looking for something good to get away from pods so decided to give some of these powders a try. I'm sensitive to fragrances so wen with the fragrance free. We've had a new Bosch dishwasher for a few months now to try this out in. The dishes do seem to come clean pretty well, just as good as anything else. While it doesn't seem to have a fragrance added to it, the smell after a wash is rather odd. I've used a different brand of fragrance free and it seemed to not really have any smell after, unlike this does. It's not the dishwasher as this is the only product that has the odd smell, which is why I dropped it a star. I usually put the correct amount in the dispenser, then if the dishes are extra dirty add a small amount to the door stainless door just below the dispenser door. I've noticed sometimes that there are residue spots in that exact location, which I wasn't noticing with the other product either. So far I'm not sure what it means, if anything, and I don't notice it all the time.

This was really really bad. So bad, in fact, that my husband insisted I leave a review, which I typically never do. We tried to save a few dollars on this alternative and it was terrible. It didn’t clean our dishes, most loads would have to be re-washed by hand. If it cleaned them, it left them with detergent/water stains. We will obviously never purchase again, but I was encouraged by the 4 star rating and I hope I can help someone else who is fooled by the same.

I've been using this now for 4 months. I previously used finish. I've read a few bad reviews on here. I honestly don't understand how there experience was so much different. I'm on a well, but I have an outstanding water treatment system which includes a water softener. I use just over one scoop for a full load. The dishes are clean and streak free. There is no odor or chemical residue left. When I drink water from a glass now, it tastes like water. There's no detergent taste at all unlike with the previous stuff.

The dishes came out clean.No awful smell or residue left on dishes. I'm glad I made the switch to powder. Nellies has clean ingredients that don't interact negatively with my health like D.W. pods do. Highly recommend

Fiiiiinally something that works with hard water. I'm trying to not buy plastic jugs or bags anymore but what I had tried from other brands didn't work because of our hard water in our town. I'm glad I tried this one because there's no more film on my dishes and glasses. The first container I bought was stupid hard to open and then I realized with the second that you have to squeeze two sides while pulling up. I was just trying to prop it up and kept breaking my nails. Seems silly but I can see from the reviews that I'm definitely not the only one!

I have used this dishwasher powder in both a portable dishwasher and now a built-in one, and it has performed well in each situation. When I was using a portable dishwasher, it worked perfectly every time and always provided great value. I never had issues with residue and everything came out clean. After moving into a home with a standard dishwasher, I tried pods, liquid detergents, and Nellie's cubes, but I kept running into unclean dishes or leftover film. I switched back to this powder because it had been the most reliable for me. In my current dishwasher, I do see some residue at times, but running a sanitize rinse removes it completely. Once that cycle is used, dishes come out clean and glassware looks clear. The plant-based and fragrance-free formula is a nice plus, although it is not a major factor for me. This container lasts a long time. When I was running my dishwasher between one and three times per day, a single tub still lasted more than four months, which makes it excellent value for the price. I would recommend this powder to anyone who wants a dependable and cost-effective detergent, especially if they are using a portable dishwasher or have struggled with pods or liquids leaving residue. This product is okay. If your dishes are usually just consisting of crumbs or things like sauces that have not dried then this is a decent product that will wash the dishes, but you WILL need two scoops or more depending on the size of your dishwasher and I personally included a drop or two of dish soap to help boost cleaning power because it was just not working very well on its own. I personally have a small countertop dishwasher that holds only one small rack of dishes and I typically put close to two full spoonfulls to get dishes that are truly clean, but even with rinse aid my dishes will come out with numerous spots from this detergent. I compared the power of this powder versus a #1 brand and the results were night and day, especially with more problematic dishes (dried on food, stains that I couldnt get out even with previous hand washing, etc.) Its not a bad brand, and its definitely more eco conscious then the leading brands but I can't justify wasting water multiple times just to get stuff truly clean because a formulation isn't strong enough. I really wanted to love this powder because of the great reviews and I will continue using it for things that dont get very dirty such as water cups or plates that had dry food on it but for everything else I'll be sticking with pods.

Final review: Definitely made a mistake. Dishes NOT clean at all. There were streaks still and glasses all foggy and I could feel stuff on the plates. Thought maybe I didn't put in enough product and tried again with an extra rinse this time. Made no difference. Through in some regular detergent the 3rd wash and dishes finally clean. So VERY disappointed in the product. Too heavy to bother returning. Have been scouping it into dirty frying pans as an initial soak - not doing much good there either. Hard to get a good picture of something shiny but here they are, first after 3 washes with Nellie's and 2nd - 1 wash with other stuff. First Review: There is no scent as such, but it has a very mild smell (soda-like). Unlike others, there were a few things it didn't clean that well in the dishwasher, but I'm not sure if it's the soap or my dishwasher. I like it way better than the dishwasher soap I used that when you opened the door this horrid smell came out, so I'm happy with it. I'll see how it keeps doing in subsequent washes.
