If you have rats, they'll probably shred it before you need to wash it!
This is the second one I've bought and won't be the last. My fellers are quick to shred the inner lining so they can get under it (hysterically, one of them got in and then couldn't figure out how to get out again when there was food going. The frantic struggles before he found the exit were a hoot. They've now made the hole bigger to stop that!). My two rats love it and, as it's not over-priced, I can afford to replace it every few months. I do wish you could adjust the straps a bit more easily (I tied knots in them), but at this price you can't really complain.

Nice extra for the cage
Not all my boys use this as much as their other beds and boxes but Rodney seems to use it to escape his brothers. I've never seen any of them actually in the pocket either. It is a cage staple for rats though and I have 2 which I swap when I put them them in the wash. They wash well and this is probably the only fabric item in the cage that they haven't chewed at all. I would recommend this item.

Really good!.... if they don’t chew
Mine are chewers, really bad. This lasted about 12 hours, they’d made a hole on the bottom to stick their little mischievous heads out from and the more I looked the more holes appeared. The material is so soft but so dangerous, it kind of frays so has lots of holes for little legs and toes to get stuck in. I have four and they all loved destroying it, so fun factor is a 10. I’ve now put it in the corner at the bottom of the cage so that if one of my girls gets stuck they won’t be suspended from the top of the cage. Wouldn’t recommend unless you have rats who don’t chew.

Doesn't look like the picture
I rated this 2 stars because of the "it's okay" mark. Every rat is different and I think loads of rats would love this hammock but mine don't even use it. This isn't the products fault, my rats don't really spend time in the lower part of their cage, however this is why I bought it... The products picture misled me. As you can see it's open in the picture, which is what I needed, my rats only like roofed hammocks and I wanted a different one to the one I already have. When I put up the hammock it did not open like the picture and stayed flat like all the other hammocks on here. If they wanted to get inside it they'd have to crawl under and ALSO the roof only takes up about half of the hammock which is not what I see in the picture. Nice hammock overall but I am very disappointed.

Great buy for the money.
Great little product for the price. My rats has ripped all the lining out and chewed through one of the straps in the first night but rats will be rats! The 2 reasons for the 4 stars is I'm still waiting for someone to design a ratproof hammock and also it doesn't hang naturally like other day hammocks where the bottom falls down from the top. I had to attach the top level of this hammock with a safety pin and hang it from my cage...so my rats new they could get in it and not just sleep on top of it

Would not recommend for Rats
Originally bought it from all the good reviews it has had. It's a nice size, but I have three male Rats which have destroyed the inside of it within a few days.I have been keeping an eye on it since they had it, but today I to my dismay I found the way the fur lining is stitched in such a way that it doesn't seem to fray, but pulls away in long strands (sort of like a bow string). While peaking in I noticed my one boy had his head trapped as it was wrapped around his neck!I immediately kicked them all out of it and have removed the fur lining completely and filled it with a rat friendly nesting material.I like the idea of these, but would much rather pay £20 for one that is hard wearing and safe than buy numerous cheap ones like this.

Wonderful until they eat it.
My mice loved this. So much in fact that despite building a large and expansive cage for them to explore, they chose to stay inside this. But that was its downfall. The pouch has a lining, and that lining got eaten. Which meant that my girls lived inside the lining where I could not clean properly or retrieve them when I needed to like on cleaning days. So, they loved the heck out of it for about a week before it had to go. If it was diamond-stitched or something to prevent there being access between the pouch and the lining this would be perfect. It took two hours to coax the last mouse out of it so that I could actually remove it from the cage. :PIn conclusion, wonderful item, but highly likely you'll be throwing it out not long after getting it.

Just buy your furry friend will love you for it.
More than worth the money. Our meerkat loves it. It is so heavy duty on the out side and so soft any warm on the inside. Great size pickle has more than enough room inside it. It has been through the washing machine and tumble dryer several times and still looks like new. Don't look anywhere else just buy this you won't regret it.b
