I wasn't sure it would. I actually bought 2 different ones - plus a plastic contained charcoal, and even some Zeolite rocks as I wanted to test them all. They all work (except the rocks, which are supposed to be even better than charcoal, but so far, haven't absorbed the smells as well) ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Five Stars *by B***. on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 4 April 2017* Seems ok ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Simple silent, apparantly effective, could do with "recharge instructions printed on the bag as a reminder. *by M***) on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 23 November 2016* I'd been aware of charcoals ability to draw smells-odours-stinks for years but didn't put 2 & 2 together until recently, I'd paid for expensive charcoal layer foot odour controlling inserts etc...Having several old dogs & the car reeking after one was collected from the vet's kennels from a day of pre-operation checks & bloods ..she stank to high heaven, ..we keep a big deodoriser gel in the cup holder in the centre of the car ...it failed!(Context: we tried it in our small Merc A class a 4-5 seater, a bigger vehicle may require a bigger bag long term, depends on the strength of the odour really & users mindset to use it throughout a vehicle to draw odours evenly. ...we'll start in the middle, move it to the boot & then the front over a week or two to see how it draws the accumulated odour).So I thought i'd try this, & having received it yesterday morning popped it via the well thought about hanging tab (provide your own string / wire / carabiner & hoked it onto the back of a headrest.24 hours later & having used the car several times since the "strong dog stench" (despite using & removing seat covers for transport of our drooling boxer mutt) ..has lessened to a significant degree, & it makes sense, charcoal is a filtration layer used in gas-masks,some extraction fan units & air purifiers, ...jut leaving this 200g bag in the car then periodically drying in the sun / in the warm nook of our wood burning stoves recess is simple, i'll test it out in a few more places, then order a big bag of the stuff to be permanently placed (between refreshing it as per instructions) in our dogs pen ("& ink") ..as I refer to it!The hessian is a nice touch because it is easy to tell whether it is dry or moisture laden, also being an open weave material it allows the charcoal to really do its work.Now some folk might say it is expensive for some charcoal, i'll buy an air freshener & it'll go, ..but they just mask a smell with another, this draws odours so they are more likely to stay gone.No mess, no leakage, no residue on your hands, nor surfaces you place it upon!What IS activated charcoal???Activated charcoal, or activated carbon, has oxygen added to it to increase its porosity, thereby, adding to its surface area. It's normally used to remove chemicals, toxins, and gases. Due to its added benefits, activated charcoal has replaced charcoal in water purification systems and fish tank filtering systems.
