Romantic Country: A Fantasy Coloring Book: Cocot - the Land of Beautiful Towering Castles

I brought this book at full price for my personal collection. I colour purely as a hobby, one that I put an incredible amount of time and effort in to.Romantic Country is the 1st book in Eriy's beautiful series. At the time of posting there are currently 2 titles available. Romantic Country and Romantic Country: The Second Tale. Romantic Country: The Third Tale is due to be published in May 2017 (however it is already available in Japan.) It is approximately 25cm x 25cm. The book also has a removable dust jacket.Inside this book there are 70 illustrations, 56 single page illustrations and 14 double page spreads. The illustrations are based around a fictional land called Cocot. Eriy used toothpicks to draw her illustrations and for that reason the line thickness varies but not dramatically. The ink is also not your typical harsh black, it is a mix i would say between black and sepia.The illustrations are broken up in to 5 chapters, each chapter providing a look at a different part of the land. Just before Chapter 1 we are given 2 double page spreads and 1 single page illustration. The single page illustration gives an overview of the Cocot map, while the 2 double page spreads provides a closer look at the map, detailing The North and The South sections.The illustrations themselves are so varied, showing every day life in this beautiful country. We get double paged spreads of the outside of shops, illustrations of the goods they sell, cakes, pastries, stamps and more! There are farms, windmills and castles, even a circus and a bookstore!All the illustrations are printed double sided, alcohol markers bleed through on to the following page and water based markers leave shadows on the next illustration. I had no problems with gel pens. The paper itself is non perforated, high quality with a slightly textured surface. I used a mix of Marco Raffines and Polychromos for most of the illustrations I've completed and found that they layer and blend well.Almost every illustration either goes in to the spine or sits extremely close to it. I found the spine loosens well after working it but not enough to colour comfortably close to it.There is also a fold-out poster included at the back of the book.

Whimsical designs on thick paper, I absolutely love this book! I use coloured pencils because the pages are double sided and alcohol markers bleed through the pages. Extremely happy to be able to order this on Amazon.co.uk.

I bought this book for my daughter who has recently started using my colouring books to help her relax after she comes home from work. She works in a stressful environment with young children and she has found this book in particular to be really relaxing to colour.The pages are unfortunately not perforated and they are not white either but more a vintage look off white shade which is really nice. The pages are slightly thicker than other books I have and although the alcohol inks seep through to the other side, it is minimal compared to some pages in other books I have had in the past.It is best to use this book with colouring pencils or water based products as the drawings have other drawings on the reverse and you will ruin the one on the back if using alcohol inks.The theme of the book is fantasy romantic country castles and lots of them have food scenes, outdoors and country life. It is a lovely book and I will add photographs and over time I will add more. There is a large pull out poster at the back of the book.

When you pick up this book, you will see it oozes quality. The cover alone is silky smooth and makes you want to stop everything, sit down and colour. The pages are of thick quality paper, even card-like. They're off white, but not off-putting. The pictures in this book are outstanding, drawn with toothpicks. They're some of the best pictures I've ever seen for colouring - each one detailed appropriately and transports you to this fictional place where you stop, relax, imagine yourself in the romantic country.It's almost too nice to colour! Having watched some videos on that well known video website, where you watch people expertly colouring in these pictures, I'm inspired and ready to go. Only hope my colouring can match the vision in my head!Seriously, this could be my favourite colouring book of all.

This book arrived today... It is just so lovely. What a wonderfull artist and story teller Eriy is. The book tells a delightful story ... The paper is excellent quality and love how irs been drawn with a toothpick... I carnt wait to start work on it. I already got lost with imagination just looking and reading through it. If you love fantasy I cannot recommend this book highly enough I have fell in love with it already well worth the very good price it us. Really love this book as it has so many beautiful pictures with a lovely story behind it. The only issue I found was using copic markers/ felt pens the ink bleed through. Bit disappointed as each picture is fantastic in itself and a shame I cannot complete them all now. May just have to buy another copy and work backwards 😂

Romantic Country is a charming addition to the many colouring books now available. The illustrations stop short of being twee and are fun to colour. The paper quality is reasonable though I would prefer it to have a little more tooth, to allow more layering of colour pencil work. Also, I do wish that publishers would leave a margin around single page illustrations as I hate having to colour into the spine area. I don't enjoy double page spreads for that same reason. That said, this book has become a favourite and I recommend it.

This book is so darling. The pages are detailed, but not overwhelming. I use simple Crayola Color Pencils and the paper works great with them. The pictures are all SO cute. I’ve ordered Volume 2! This is a perfect stress-reliever for me.

Beautiful illustrations and details one of my favourite artists. The paper quality is amazing and an absolute joy to colour in.
