A must-have for keeping track of our race bikes
As a moto mom with kids racing and practicing every week, keeping up with bike maintenance can get overwhelming. The ProTaper Wireless Hour Meter has honestly been one of the simplest but most helpful upgrades we’ve added to our bikes. Installation was super easy. It’s wireless and vibration-activated, so you just mount it to the frame with the included adhesive (and we added zip ties for extra security). No wiring or complicated setup, which is a huge win when you’re already juggling race prep and gear bags. Once it’s on, it automatically tracks engine run time, which makes it so much easier to stay on schedule with things like oil changes, air filter service, and top-end maintenance. Before this, we were guessing or trying to remember how many hours were on the bike. The display is easy to read, and I like that it keeps total hours plus a resettable partial timer, which helps track maintenance between services. It’s also fully sealed and built to handle dirt, water, and rough riding conditions—important for motocross bikes that live in mud and dust.

Easy install and functions well
Install was easy. I ended up mounting mine to the frame of my KLX300R under the side plastics, but in a place I can still see it and get to the function button. I felt this offered a little more protection to the unit, but still allowed ease of use. The display is clear and easy to read, it functions as it’s supposed to sensing engine vibration. You can change the sensitivity of how easily it kicks on and starts to track, and you also have the ability to lock the hour meter so it doesn’t come on during transport or when you’re moving the bike. Just remember to actually lock and unlock it.

ProTaper hour meter
Works as intended if mounted correctly with zip ties(which it has holes for) and included adhesive. This meter has to be manually locked out so the folks in the reviews saying it logs hours while on the truck or trailer aren't reading the instructions.
