An excellent book that every Christian should read. Challenging and thought provoking about how you should be living your life for Jesus.

A great and inspiring book.

John Bevere is a man with a heart genuinely ablaze for God and his passion is contagious. This is a life/mind changing book that faces us with truths about God and our relationship with Him ... facts that the church has been watering down for many years in an attempt to attract more people. This is a book you will not want to put down and one you will want to start again as soon as you are done reading it the first time.

Didn't rate it a 5, only because its similar to about two other books John Bevere has written, although I haven't checked the publishing dates and don't know whether this was written before or other those other books. Other than that, worth reading.

I am an avid reader. Over the course of my life, I would guess I've read maybe a few thousand books. I have benefitted greatly from many of them. But then, there are a select few that completely change my life. I have only read a handful of books like that. For me, this is one of those books. Lately, I've been feeling like my passion and love for God was dwindling. I found myself not wanting to do things like pray, read the Word, or go to church. I found myself longing more and more for the things of the world. Yesterday, I was really convicted by my pastor's sermon. He was talking about how our zeal and faith for God has an effect on the entire church and other believers. He encouraged us to do regular heart checks. He also encouraged the congregation to "do whatever it takes to rekindle our love and passion for God." He also talked about how nobody wants a relationship or friendship with someone who is only spending time with us because they feel like it's the right thing to do or because they are supposed to. Yet, that is exactly how many of us (myself included) tend to relate to God. I knew that I needed to do something to rekindle my passion and love for God. But I wasn't sure what. So I did a search on my Kindle and stumbled across this book. I have read one of John Bevere's previous books, "The Bait of Satan" and several by his wife Lisa. I found a bunch of different books on the subject of having passion for God, but this one really jumped out to me. I didn't even know this book existed. I read the description and just wasn't sure. So I ordered a sample and read it. After I did, I sensed the Lord telling me to order the complete book. I was a little hesitant, but I did. I don't know if I even have the words to describe how the Lord spoke to me through this book. As I read, I was humbled and convicted. I saw many areas that needed to confess to the Lord. I realized that I was trying to live a double life. I was trying to partially follow the Lord and partially living in the world. I wasn't fully in either one, but just enough to make me completely miserable. As I read, I just cried and repented. This book gave me a renewed passion for the Lord. It stripped me bare and helped me to see myself in a completely different way. And trust me, the results weren't pretty. But I know that this is something that needed to happen in my life. The path I was heading down would lead to serious trouble, compromise, and heartache if I stayed on it. If you are feeling at all complacent or dry in your relationship with the Lord, do yourself a favor and read this book. But be prepared to be broken and humbled. I know that I have been completely changed. I am not the same person I was before reading this book. This was the right book at the right time. This book should be required for every person in the Western Church. I wish every church in America would do a study and sermon series on this book. I would recommend any of John Bevere's books. Along with this book, I would suggest reading "Empty Promises" by Pete Wilson. This book and that book deal with two sides of the same coin. Heart Ablaze deals with having a passion for God and and disconnecting from the world, while Pete Wilson's book deals with identifying the idols in our lives and helping us recognize those things that we love, trust, and serve more than God. If I hadn't read "Empty Promises" first, I don't think my heart would have been as open and ready for the message of "Heart Ablaze". So I would suggest reading both of these books together.

Any believer wanting to know God better and to draw nearer to Him needs to read this book. This book if taken to heart is a life changer. I have bought quite a few copies and given them to people I know could benefit from this message. You're missing out if you don't read this book. Just heads up, there are a few other books out there with similar titles.

Such an amazing read! I highly recommend this book for any Christian wanting to take their walk to a higher and authentic level.

Excellent book. Much needed in a day of watered down teachings. Challenging message from John Bevere. Learning to draw nearer to God and grow deeper in faith is paramount to our relationship with God.

John Bevere highlights scripture and presents it in a manner that is convicting for the Western church. It is a wake up call for people to recognize a Holy God and repent for our casual worship of Him.
