RUSTINS Quick Dry MDF Sealer - Professional Sealant for Rapid Results 500ml

I’m really impressed with the Rustins Quick Dry MDF Sealer. It goes on easily and dries quickly, making it ideal when you need to get several coats or a paint finish done without waiting around for ages.It seals the MDF really well, noticeably reducing the amount of paint the surface absorbs and leaving a much smoother surface ready for painting. I found it easy to sand between coats, and the finished result was much more professional than using paint directly onto untreated MDF.A little goes a long way, and it’s particularly useful for anyone doing woodworking, furniture projects or DIY. The quick drying time is a real bonus.Overall, a very good quality product that does exactly what it’s supposed to do. I would definitely buy it again and recommend it to anyone working with MDF.

Works fine, goes on easy and dries quickly. Used about half this can to do 3 coats on a 2mtr x 0.6mtr board 3 times on both sides.

Applied this to some MDF and it disappeared into the board faster than biscuits vanish when the tea comes out. It dried so quickly I barely had time to stand back, nod knowingly, and say, "That should do it."Normally, MDF reacts to paint by growing a beard around the edges. Not this time. The Rustins sealer tamed it into a smooth, civilised member of society, ready for a flawless finish.I'm now wandering around the house looking for other bits of MDF to seal. The wardrobe is getting nervous.

It works but I would recommend using oil based varnish instead. It’s quick drying and wash up is with water. But it struggles to seal edges and although it might be dry to the touch it remains sticky especially if you add a second coat. Definitely requires 3 coats to seal MDF before I would apply other finishes. Varnish would do it in one and a better surface to sand. This product doesn’t flow do leaves brush marks. Might be better to apply with a roller. I wouldn’t purchase again

I got this to seal a particle board cabinet. It is very low-fume but does require ventilation. I couldn't smell it at all. It seemed to work well. Only 2 hours drying time. However, it's supposed to be clear, but is actually a light brown when dry. For a thin coat, this will probably not present a problem. It may be darker with extra coats.

I bought this sealer to treat the edges of a cabinet that I purchased from Amazon. I didn't know upon purchase until I received it that the cabinet was made of MDF. The problem with MDF is that if it gets any kind of moisture the glues/binders they use to compress the material together will come apart. You have to make sure it is sealed up against moisture very well or you are just asking for failure. That is why I thought to try this product I came across on Amazon. The sealer seemed to be fine and applied well. Time will tell how long it holds up. Anyhow, I only gave it three stars because it looked as though this can had been on the shelf for quite a while. It was starting to rust on the outside and the lid was partially popped open. The good part was the sealer inside looked to be fine, it did not leak, and it was not dried out at all.

I used this on an MDF sheet for a bed platform in my motorhome. It has been perfect. I used the leftover primer in some areas around windows that were previously prone to mold, and no issues!

Has been on my outdoor table for 2 weeks near the coast and seems to be protecting the MDF quite well. Can is not a gallon or even a pint - more like a half pint - enough to do a table top but would not come close to even covering a single 4x8 board.
