Solid Weather Station
I've had this product just less than a month. Right now it seems to operate perfectly and I am quite satisfied overall.Out of the box, the sensor was straightforward to install. But I had trouble connecting the display to my WiFi and saw reviews here describing that setup in greater detail than is given with the product. I would call that a deficiency - the installation instructions are sparse and say only "Connect to the Wi-Fi signal coming from your display”, lacking the necessary detailed specification to look for the network "AcuRite 01544MCB_XX” where XX is the last 2 digits of the display’s MAC address (shown inside the battery compartment). I had to find those instructions in these reviews. Even so, once I discovered that network, it was frustratingly difficult to hold the network connection to the display. The network would repeatedly appear and disappear, and this went on for over half an hour before I finally happened to time it perfectly to a) connect to the AcuRite network, then b) hit 192.168.4.1 in a browser to grab the setup page. Note this was virtually impossible using a phone or tablet, I was successful only using my computer. After a week or so, it appeared the measured barometric pressure seemed way off. I went to the AcuRite support site and sent a message reporting this. They quickly replied, asked a few questions, then promptly sent me a new display. The new display was far easier to connect to my Wi-Fi, in fact the AcuRite network came up immediately on my tablet and I had no trouble connecting to it and accessing the Wi-Fi setup page. This new display has been in full operation now for almost two weeks and shows a much more accurate barometric pressure (although still in “learning…” mode). Of note, I live at altitude (6800’) so must specify “Adjusted” vs “Station” Pressure in the device settings.

WiFi set up and connectivity a real issue
To start with, I’ve been a telecom engineer and worked with networking my entire life. I love the functionality and connectivity of the sensor array but it’s mounted way up on my roof and a pain to get at. I’ve had great experiences with two of their past 5 in 1s over almost 20 yrs now and I replaced one of my Sainlogic stations with this one because it has wifi and the rain gauges actually work for a very long time. The sensor works great to the base station as had the other two. The batteries on the other two lasted forever. And the rain gauge picked up 1.2 in of rain over night after I installed it. More than the SL one did for an entire year. When it connected it gave great reporting to Weather Underground. That’s as far as the good news goes. The stand support is very difficult to work with and kept popping off while trying to move it out. As others have mentioned, setting it up on WiFi was a challenge, even for me. It wouldn’t choose the 2.4 network and connect automatically like my 1gb router wants. I presume it was trying to get on 5. So I had to force it to a guest network on 2.4. That took about 3 hrs and multiple resets of the base station to get it to finally connect after getting a tip from, yes, Amazon support. Then the setup went quick. But it wouldn’t stay connected even to the 2.4 net. Once it dropped after the first day, it kept connecting and disconnecting while WU and My Acurite showed it offline. Upon contacting Acurite help desk, she wanted me to check and change my router settings to force priorities. NOPE. Everything in my house is on my 1GB fiber net. The smoke detectors and CO detector, ring alarm, cameras and doorbells, thermostats, garage door openers, door locks, tvs, echo devices, even Roomba. Sorry, I won’t change any router settings when everything else in this house has connected to and operates perfectly well on the network. I’ll be returning it tomorrow even though I love it when it works.

Step by Step instruction to setup the WiFi connection With Update
It appears a lot of people are having difficulty connecting the Display unit to their WiFi. Just follow these instructions and it should work for you.Setting up this weather station is not that difficult. Just READ THE DIRECTIONS!Connecting to the WiFi just requires a gathering some information before you start the WiFi setup. First go to Wunderground.com and either login or create a new account. Go to 'My Profile' you will see a Tab labeled 'MY DEVICES', click on that Tab. Then click on the 'Add New Device' Button. Select 'AcuRite 5-in-1 Weather Station with WiFi' from the drop-down list. Then click on the 'Next' button. The next screen will display your Station ID and Station Key. Copy down this information, you will need this information BEFORE you start your WiFi setupUse these two values for the Wunderground Station ID and Wunderground Key when you have connected to the AcuRite WiFi.WiFi SetupPress the Gear button on the display. This will turn on the AcuRite Wifi for a few minutes. The instructions state it will be on for 30 minutes, but actually it's a much shorter time. Connect to that WiFi, go to a browser and enter in the IP Address 192.168.4.1A webpage will display, enter in your WiFi name and password. Then below that enter in the Wunderground Station ID and Wunderground Key that was generated from Wunderground.comNow on the same page, near the bottom, click on the 'Save' button. The screen will change with a message stating to wait a few minutes. After a short time, the screen will change stating you have successfully connected to your WiFi.At any time you need to start the AcuRite WiFi, just press the 'Gear' button on the display.Don't forget to reconnect to your WiFi once you have completed the above.AcuRite AppFrom the menu go to Setting, Manage Devices. Click on the 'Add Device' button. Enter the name for this device (i.e. Home). Enter the Device ID. The Device ID is found on a white label in the battery compartment when you remove the battery cover on the Display unit. Select your Country and add your Zip Code. Now follow the 'Next' button a few more times to setup that device.Your done.************************************************************************************************************************Update:I've had this PWS for a month. It's performance has been flawless. The connection to my WiFi has been rock solid. The only time it was not sending data was when my internet provider performed service on our connection. We were without internet a few hours. As soon as the our internet connection was reestablished this unit reconnect to our WiFi and begin transmitting data again.Within a few days of installing this, Weather Underground attached a Gold Star to the account for consistent reporting and consistent data. We've already had high winds here. The unit has set me numerous high wind warnings to me. I have the high wind warning set to 25 mph. So far our highest recorded wind speed has been 32 mph.I'm very pleased with the performance of this unit.

Frustrating setup-if you have charter spectrum, get a 3rd party router-you will thank me later :)
Finally took the plunge and purchased this. Researched online and in forums for about 2 months and decided on this model. The instructions included are very vague and leave out alot of information. I really don’t like calling tech support so with the assistance of forums and some tedious trial/error the system is up and running perfectly. You should be comfortable changing a few settings on your router, if your not comfortable doing that, find someone who is or just go ahead and save yourself plenty of frustration and return this product while you have time. Before you do anything else: do this. Login to your router. Most routers now, dual broadcast 2.5ghz and 5ghz networks. Often, your wifi network names will be identical for both. This is where the problem is, when going through the wizard to connect your 5-1 iris, there is no way to tell the 5gz apart from the 2.5ghz network. The sensor is designed to ONLY work on the 2.5 ghz network. Go in the settings and disable the 5ghz network. This way when you go to connect your iris 5 and 1 sensor, it’s only seeing the 2.5ghz network. This is cruicial to a successful setup. While in the setup, change your wifi channel to channel 11. (this seems to have helped me).Make your changes and exit out of your router settings. Make sure you hit “Save” and the router acknowledges the changes you made.Head on over to weather underground and create account. You will need A station ID and station key. This particular unit is called “ACCURITE IRIS 5 and 1 with wifi” hit ok, and fill out your details. WXunderground will create a station id and station key. Copy these down exactly as they appear. They are case sensitive and needs to be entered later EXACTLY as displayed.Write down your home wifi network name and password. You will need this for the setup. Now, you should go over to my accuirte and make account with them. Do all this before you even begin the wifi setup below. Here are steps i took to get station up and running.Find suitable mount location. I suggest using temporary mount until you find ideal spot in your yard that will give you the best readings. Go ahead and put batteries in the sensor. Use lithium batteries, alkaline batteries don’t do very well in low winter time temperatures. Once MOUNTED then carefully put the batteries in the unit.Come back inside and plug in your wifi-display and put backup batteries in the unit so in case of power outage it remembers your settings. On your laptop or phone open new webpage. Type 192.168.4.1 however Don’t press enter.Wait for the sensor and display to sync. Will take about 45 seconds to a minute. You should see on upper left hand corner of display the WIFI SYMBOL (blue) flashing. Your console/sensor is now in wifi-setup mode.Click on available networks (on your phone/laptop). You should see a network called “ACCURITE 5XXX” click on that and connect to that network. (make sure your connected to the accurite network)Go over to the tab with the page 192.168.4.1 selected and you can now press enter.A setup page will appear. Enter your home networks id and password into the fields, then go down and enter your wx underground creidientals. When you have everything entered (remember these are case sensitive) hit save. A message will come up and say “updating settings this may take a few minutes” once it’s done correctly page will reload and say you are successfully connected.Close the page and reconnect to your home wifi network.Download the my accurite app and add your display and sensor.Under share weather in the app, make sure it’s turned on and your WX underground station id and password are entered correctly. This is crucial for sharing to wx underground. As of now, if all is connected correctly you should see all your data on the my acurite app and on the wx underground site. It may take up to 20 minutes or so for data to start streaming to wx underground and for your station ID to show on the map. Just be patient. When i set this up, it took around 10 minutes.Check your my accurite app, you should see data coming in. on the phone app. In the upper left hand corner, you will see “Accurite iris” and there should be a bright green line to the left of the word accurite. When it’s green your good and connected with strong signal, if it’s red, your disconnected. The display will show wifi and sensor signal strength. Take the display (with AAA backup batteries installed) and move it to different locations in your home and see how strong wifi and sensor signal strength performs in various locations. I had to move my display around in a few locations to find a good spot to put the display. The instructions say that you need to have sensor and display within about 330 feet of each other to function correctly. Mine is about 80 feet or so, and i live in a old single wide with aluminum siding.Very surprised that is unit is able to receive the signals though that. Works well.I really wish accurite had made this easy to set up. I had to read forums/try several different things to get this to finally work like it’s supposed to. Many people have reported the same wifi issues. Not sure why accurite made this so very difficult to setup. Once it’s setup and connected it’s great. Great graphs on my accurite and instruments are agreeing with other local weather stations. You will want to mount the sensor so it’s easy to reach for maintenance, (cleaning the rain gauge) changing batteries etc.The display has different brightness settings so you can have in your bedroom if you chose. That’s where mine is located. However, i placed it on the low setting so it doesn’t light up my room at night.Prior to doing instructions as listed, I was only able to stay connected for 3 hours max. It’s now been over 24 hours and it’s performing perfectly. I can see my station on wx underground and can access real time information from the app.So far, im satisfied, i will update later as time goes on.update*** 10/27/22*** after working flawlessly for over a month..I received a alert from my accurite saying my iris 5 and 1 had lost wi-fi connection.. the strange thing was that i have FULL WIFI signal strength, along with full sensor signal strength.repeated the wifi setup..it took several attempts (probably around 10 attempts or so) to finally get the the sensor to re-connect to wifi and start transmitting again.i was offline for a little over 24 hours. lost connection to Weather underground as well. One thing that i did notice, Weather underground put out a notice that due to a update they did, you NOW have to use the station key provided for weather underground in the my accurite app, otherwise the data from your sensor will not be shared on weather underground. before, i was just using my weather underground password. this is a new requirement, something weather underground has done within the past month or so.my router has a guest 2.4ghz guest network. I placed my iris 5 and 1 on that network, this way it has it's own network and no other device can conflict with it and cause problems. i previously had it on my other wifi network with 10 other devices. i suspect that is where the problem was. but i can't say for sure.knocked off another star on this review. it's a great unit that provides great data, but the software is terrible.tried to connect with customer service, they were very responsive, however they kept me in circles because I had already tried all their suggested troubleshooting tips several times.i will update this review as time goes on.**update 11/16/24*** between my last update 10/27/22 and January 2023, i would repeatedly have the same exact issue, it would work ok for a while, (maybe a week or two) then boom, it would just randomly disconnect. after a few hours of reading various online forums, (accurite customer service will just send you in circles) through process of elimination, i concluded that the charter spectrum supplied router was causing my problems. i went on amazon and ordered a TP-Link AX1800 WiFi 6 Router V4 (Archer AX21) router. cost around 80.00. it was basically plug and play. ***IMPORTANT*** make absolutely certain, that you turn OFF the 5ghz network broadcast, for initial setup. otherwise, your going to be frustrated and going in circles. this particular router, allows devices to be configured from the app it provides, so you don't even need to use a laptop. i went through everything and with the 5ghz network DISABLED, i connected my accurite weather station to the "GUEST NETWORK". once i verified everything was connected and reporting correctly, i then navigated the app and turned the 5ghz back on and added all my other devices. and to my suprise it works like a champ. i installed backup batteries in the display. (AA batteries) and they have saved me more times than i care to count. essentially, without the backup batteries, everytime the internet or power goes out, you would have to repeat this painful process. accurite really dropped the ball with these temperamental, hard to connect products. i really debated on sending this back during the return period, but im a tech guy and i really enjoy trying to figure out things. at the end of the day, this entire ordeal was caused by the charter spectrum supplied router. if i had a 3rd party router all along, i probably could have avoided all these back and forth issues i had in the beginning. the reviews don't lie folks, if your not tech savy-or have patience to figure things out, i would steer clear of this. But to be totally fair, i've not had any issues coming up on 2 years now since i got the new 3rd party router. best of luck to everyone.

Works well after you figure out how to connect to Weather Underground
First, go to Weather Underground, setup an account, and add the device by type and get the Device ID like KIAXXXXX1 and key, device ID is in caps and key is case sensitive. Go to Myacurite, setup an account, and share your data with Weather Underground and enter the ID and key. Now boot up your display, the wireless stays active for 30 minutes to connect to it, connect to it in your wireless on a phone or PC, go to 192.168.4.1 and set it up and enter the ID and key there and your wireless password and save. Now it will work to WU. It may take a while for your account to be setup at Acurite and WU, check it the next day or in a few hours. The display is clear, but half the size I would expect. The first one I ordered would not connect to the display and returned it. This one seems to work as expected.
