Selections Tomato and Vegetable Growbag Pots for Improved Watering - Pack of 6

I bought several packs of these. I used some for tomatoes in grow bags and the others for squashes/courgette in the ground.The pots themselves were bigger than I had anticipated, but the benefits of are totally amazing. They are themselves sturdy and well constructed, so I anticipate cleaning and reusing them for a good few years to come.With the tomatoes I have two grow bags of three plants each. Planting the tomato plants inside them is actually a little tricky, as I wanted to allow enough space to add soil around the stems to strengthen the plants. The bit where you put the canes is also sturdy, so I have lined up the two grow bags and am just using canes at the corners and stringing a box together to keep them safe. It makes watering them so much easier.However, I would say that the real benefit of these is when used in the ground with squash, pumpkin and courgette. I grew a load this summer, but didn't have enough of the pots for all of them. I had two petty pans squash and two courgette (as well as others) - I put one petty pans seedling and one courgette seedling into the pots (one in each pot) and the corresponding two seedlings directly in the ground. I treated all exactly the same, mixing it a few handfuls of growbag compost with the soil. The seedlings in the pots have grown really strongly, being far larger and vigourous than their direct-soil-grown counterparts. The leaves are larger, the soil retains moisture for longer and they are far far easier to water. The plants in the pots have also both flowered earlier than their direct-soil-grown counterparts. Also very easy to put snail/slug defences around the perimeter of the plastic, and any that do get in seem to get stuck in the moat. The plants themselves are higher up off the ground, so the fruits don't get eaten or rot in contact with the soil. If I had pumpkin plant, I imagine it would also be easier to put the fruit on a brick to mature to stop it from rotting in contact with the soil.

Just what I needed for my tomato plants. I do wish the planting bit was a tad bigger and you end up getting a lot of compost in the watering bit but overall it’s a great design. It’s sturdy, it gives the plants more compost to grow into, they’re not too big and they are super easy to use. They are roughly the same size as the holes in the tomato grow bags you can get.

We bought these after seeing something similar on a TV gardening program. We initially looked at the hozelock alternative but were put off by the price so decided to give these a go instead and have been very impressed.They seem quite durable and i'm sure will provide many years of service. Installation really is very simple - you simply push the pot down onto the growbag and twist it to cut a hole through the growbag!. Fill the central hole in the pot with some extra compost and plant your plant into it.Watering couldn't be simpler - just pour water into the outer ring of the pot and allow it to soak through into the growbag below.There are two distinct benefits with using these pots; they give extra space and depth for the plant to establish a healthy root mass. Secondly they provide an easy means of watering your growbags without wetting the plants stem, therefore reducing the risk of rot and fungus.These are currently in use in our greenhouse with our melons, tomato's and cucumbers and I can honestly say the plants look far healthier and are growing much more consistently than previous years.

These are great bits of kit. Dead easy to fit into the grow bags and they make watering much easier. They also provide nice protection from slugs.

These are a great idea to water down the side and not burn the leaves or squash them. It does help stop the soil from drying out.Dont make our mistake. You need to plant the container and then put the tomato plant in. We didnt and our tomato's are sunk down in and not growing so well as in a grow bag (our previous way of growing).

J'ai trouvé ces "pots" plutôt bien faits et très pratiques, surtout en cas de fortes chaleurs et/ou d'absences car on peut mettre plusieurs litres d'eau en réserve dans le 2ème bac. ATTENTION : pour mettre les trois côte à côte, il faut un sac de terreau de 70L.

Eine sehr interessante Möglichkeit, Tomaten anzubauen. Großgärtnereien machen dies in ähnlicher Weise, jedoch in einer wohl etwas größeren Art!Bei mir hat es sehr gut funktioniert; nicht nur bei Tomaten, sondern auch Paprika sind darin sehr gut gewachsen.Ein wichtiger Tipp: die besten Ergebnisse werden mit hochwertiger Blumenerde erzielt. Blumenerde für beispielsweise 2 Euro pro Sack würde ich hierfür nicht verwenden.

J'ai acheté ces pots en pensant disposer d'une réserve d'eau intéressante en goutte à goutte autour de mes pieds de tomates même si je ne les cultive pas en sacs. Malheureusement il y a 8 gros trous d'environ 1cm de diamètre dans le fond de la gouttière, ce qui fait que l'eau ne reste pas du tout autour du pied et est évacuée tout de suite lors de l'arrosage. Donc ce dispositif ne sert à rien à part à buter les pieds, ce que j'aurais pu faire tout aussi bien sans ça et pour bien moins cher. On ne peut pas mettre 0 étoile alors....
