do you get the plugin dongle in the box

In addition to a compartment for two AA batteries, the bottom of the mouse has a small indentation that holds the included USB dongle, to stow it away for easy travel. Unfortunately, the dongle is required. The keyboard and mouse don’t pair over Bluetooth.

Does this have a £ key

Yes £ key in the usual place on a qwerty key board.

Does this have a backlit keyboard?

No. It's a great keyboard and mouse. This is my second one

Will the keyboard still work from 6ft away from the dongle?

I'm afraid not! You need to keep dongle as close as possible to not to have any problems.
