Lansky Sharpeners Convertible Super C Clamp Mount

I was given a Lansky Knife Sharpening system with diamond hones. You can use the kit hand-held, but having a method of keeping the knife-holder/hone guide steady means you will achieve extremely consistent angles on your blade edges. This clamp, for the Lansky system, allows you to secure your knife in the knife-holder/hone guide which can then be mounted on the mount quickly and securely plus - when you need to - you can flip it over in seconds so you can work on the other side of the blade. The C-clamp can be mounted on a range of thicknesses but - here's the beauty - the C-clamp mount which holds the knife-holder can be mounted in two directions at right angles to each other so giving you more options for mounting it. Now, here's my wee crib. The post that holds the knife-holder/hone guide can loosen quite easily so I use a short length of plumbers' p.t.f.e. tape on the threads to keep it secure. I could use a semi-permanent solution such as Hermetite but that's an extreme solution. This is my clamp of choice in my workshop. You can get properly sharpened blades with Lansky hones and this clamp will give you the best chance.

Good solid mount for using the Lansky sharpeners.

A simple "C" shaped clamp made from lightweight alloy, the Super C Mount provides a simple, secure and stable way of mounting your Lansky sharpening kit to a table so that you can work safely with what will end up being very sharp knives. It's fairly substantial, seeming to be made out of cast aluminium, with a simple screw to hold the clamp in place. The mounting post can be attached in two directions to support either clamping on a regular, horizontal, table surface or a, sligfhtly more unusual, vertical surface. The mounting post is attached to the main clamp body using a small "grub" screw type fitting which , at first glance, seems slightly to short but in use shouldn't present any problems. The actual post itself has a simple peg on the end which fits neatly into the Lansky sharpening vice. There are no screws, locks or fancy release mechanisms - just push the vice onto the peg and start working. While this doens't provide a fantastically secure fit, it is good enough for the reaonably light touch that's needed when sharpening and, on the plus-side, it means that flipping the knife over to sharpen the other side of the blade is no bother at all. The Super C Clamp really does make a difference to the way you use your Lansky sharpening kit. It's such a difference that I'd think Lansky really should include it in the sharpening kit itself. Instead you've got to for out an additional lump of your hard-earned to get the best out of it. For that reason, it get 4 stars.

I bought the clamp under the impression that is was basically essential, before watching a few Lansky instructional videos that showed the kit being used handheld style therefore showing it is not required for effective sharpening, however I find it so much easier to refine a knife using the clamp as I can come away from the knife to give my hands a rest (or pick up my toddler) and pick up where I left off meaning I'm keeping consistency in my knife edges... Brilliant product

Perfect clamp, bit on the expensive side but fits perfectly.

The simple fact that this clamp allows a wide range of secure placements for your Lansky sharpening kit is a given. And, whilst it deserves a full five-star rating for its simple, yet ideal design, we SHOULD all give these additional clamps a Three or Four star rating - simply because the accountants that must have infected the upper management echelons of the Lansky boardroom STILL refuse to INCLUDE one of these excellent clamps in every sharpening kit that they sell - utter stupidity, with an otherwise excellent product. In fact, I'll remove a couple of my original five stars now, as this deliberate omission - despite every single mention of Lansky Sharpening Systems having the same observation - is truly unacceptable.

Is very high quality and is very good price

A must for the sharpeners hobby!
