Having read some other reviews which said the mat kept falling off I was a bit worried but ordered one anyway. I fitted it with the bolt-on clamp at the front and the hook-on piece at the back and had no problems whatsoever. I've used it a few times now and it's perfectly good for the job, doesn't fall off and hasn't worn much at all. I'd say it's a bit pricey for a piece of rubber with a basic metal clamp at either end, but it was easy to fit and did the job well, so I can't complain.

Ideal for the job

The Hulk paving pad is robust and well made but a little fiddly to fit to the compactor plate. Once in position it does a good job of protecting the paver surface from scratches & scuffs, so is well worth the money if your project entails laying paving bricks.

Not worth the effort trying to fit this, better off placing a piece of carpet or osb board over like the pro's do.This is not worth buying. Not fit for purpose. Would return but now gone past return window.

This tough rubber pad can be fitted to the Evolution whacker machines to protect paving stones etc. when bedding them in with the machine.It works well, and I don't know how else I would do the job of bedding in block pavers.I've only given it three stars because the method of fitting is very crude, and it took me a long time to secure it to the machine.Maybe I'll get better with practice, but the fixing mechanism feels very much like an afterthought.

Arrived on time and as expected

The tool this piece of kit goes with is great. The Hulk Electric compactor works a treat. However, this mat that is supposedly designed to go with it - is not. The problem is the clamps. They aren't a great fit and don't grip the base of the compactor sufficiently. This means while using the tool with the mat - the mat constantly slides sideways forcing you to pause and adjust it every couple of minutes. The only solution was to modify the mat. To do this we drilled holes in the corners and used large, strong cable ties to fix it to the handles. I was really surprised this wasn't designed better as the compactor itself is brilliant.
