can this be used on a cooker round the edges of a hob

Hi Lynda. That wasn't the purpose that I bought the paint for, I used it to re-cover my wood burning stove. But I do not see a reason why it shouldn't be ok for use on a hob. It states on the tin that it is safe to use on stoves, BBQ's, engines, radiators and other 'metal' items and that it is flame and heat resistant up to 650C. It does do a fantastic job. My wood burner looks like new. I hope this helps.

Can this be used on a manifold heat shield of a car? would it deal with the continuous use and water resistance?

Not sure how hot your heat shield will get. I've used it on my barb. for a quick makeover. It's been on a while now and adequately copes with the heat of the barb with the lid down.

The lower tray of my bbq (its a half barrel one) has 2 removable metal sheets that the coals rest on. Could i use this on the trays?
