Absolutely wonderful!
I have been looking at these for a while but always thought that I can use a brush instead. I am so glad I bought these as they are far superior and not as messy as brushes. Working with inktense and outher water soluble mediums they are worth their weight in gold. There are 3 different brush types; a flat chisel one and both a fine and medium normal brush. They have the brush pen number on the barrel of the pen so that you can see at a glance which one you are picking up. They also have a pen lid with square sides so that the water brush pen stays where put and doesn't roll away if knocked. I don't know if it's just the ones I received but I have found them difficult to fill. The narrow opening becomes blocked on filling with a water bubble. To combat this I have used a drinking straw of which I cut a slit of about an inch up the side of the bottom of the straw, this enables the straw to become a little narrower to fit into the pen barrel to fill it with water. To fill it I got a glass of water, sucked some of this into the straw and using my finger on the top of the straw I could then transfer the straw full of water to the barrel of the pen and on letting go of the suction it filled the barrel with water. I had to repeat this a few times until it was full. On using the water brush however it takes a long time to use that amount of water. Despite the filling problem, which I solved, I love these water brushes.

Portable and easy to use
Portable and easy to use. I use with waterpencils and colours when in the field. Gunna be taking them with me to India as they do not leak compared to other makes Ive owned. (Edit now I have used them a bit more) Big square brush: Lovely to use and does not leak at all unless I squeeze. Its a nice portable size for washes in my small Moleskine and use for some blocky plant backgrounds. Medium: I use this one the most its almost like using a traditional brush as you forget its filled with water until you squeeze it. It holds watercolour very well considering its only synth and highly portable. Small: Not impressed with this one. When doing very fine lines big balls of water will randomly fall out. In the end I took all the water out and used it like a traditional brush, the very tip does not give you as much control but once used to it its livable. Overall these brushes do not replace the traditional ones but are very good for when you are out and about as they fit in bags quite well.

Awesome to work with
Awesome to work with. I don't use regular brushes for waterpaints after I got theese. No mess, easy to use and keep clean. Only reason for not giving five stars is because I use treated water and it is a bit of a pain to fill the water into the handle. I use a syringe for it, but wish the design was better for that part. Once filed, the water go es a long way.

Value for money, great to put in pocket or bag ready to go👍
Derwent are brilliant and their brushes amazing on the go when drawing and painting. Easy to use and fill, great value for money, easy to store and carry on the go. So much easier than a standard paintbrush on the move. Easy to clean too. Great brush ends to use on a versatile picture, flat or pointed and smaller tip to larger brush head. 👍

Useful
I have been thinking of buying these for a while. I have only used them once, they will be useful when out painting.

Outdoors, yes. Indoors, no.
Derwent waterbrushes, set of three, are a good accompaniment to water soluble pencils when used en plein air. The set comprises a fine brush, a medium round brush and a medium chisel (flat) brush, all with nylon bristles. The reservoir holds just the amount of water needed for several small pieces, moleskine sketches etc. Filled at home, they remained watertight in my backpack throughout a six mile walk across fields and through woods. In use, they're so -so; I'm not sure how much is down to my unfamiliarity with their use. They feel okay, just like a fat pen. The bristles are charged with water and purged of any colour pick up by squeezing the reservoir barrel. I found this fairly easy to gauge. However, I did find that the brush required recharging for blending larger blocks of colour and this didn't give as satisfactory finish as a larger, ordinary brush does. For more detailed work, they're better. At around ten pounds for the set, they're good to have for going out and about, but I'd still take a larger brush. If working from home or studio, with a source of water, I wouldn't bother with them; just get a jar of clean water and a few good, ordinary brushes.

Outstanding product
I owned a version of these in Japan which weren't bad (nothing like as good as these, though!) and I though I would give them a go here. The first thing to say is that these have a much better selection of brushes, fine, medium/bold, wedge. The fine is very fine, the med/bold is surprisingly versatile and the wedge is great for the rest. The amount of water they hold is about right, also the weight distribution and balance is good, and the caps are thankfully wide enough to not trap the brushes every time you replace the cap. I recommend you use these with the Staedtler 'Noris Club' water-soluble pencil crayons and I can't imagine how you couldn't be impressed.

Decent water flow, wish they implemented some device that let's you controll the water flow without relying on how hard you push. If you are new to watercolors you'll want a set of these, if you are experienced step up a few steps in quality.
