My knee measurement is 19" - will this fit

I don't know where you are taking your knee measurement but I think that it will fit OK. The Velcro fasteners give quite a lot of adjustment and so long as the circular hole fits snuggly over the knee cap leaving the metal braces properly aligned at the sides, it will be fine. This brace worked amazingly well for me and sorted out my minor problem within just a few days, by the way, which is just as well as the neoprene made my leg itch so much that I couldn't have worn it for much longer anyway. If you are thinking of using it for more than a few days then you will need something between your leg and the brace.Clive Belfield

I am post polio case. My only need is to prevent the knee bending backwards (hyper extension). As lightweight as possible and no tendency to pull hair

There is a lock in the two hinges on the two metal supports to stop backward movement. Just checked mine and there is some slight movement backwards before the locks stop any further movement backwards. Probably equates to half an inch to an inch at the top of the support bracket.

It's just one support, but can be worn on either knee. Bit expensive if you need to buy two of them.

Can you adjust the hinge to prevent the knee from straightening, as when my wife straightens hers beyond about 15 degrees, the ligament hurts

As far as I am aware the hinges aren't adjustable, but the support it offered prevented my ligament from over straining. Hope this helps.
