Good value headset
Bought these 9 years ago. Comfortable enough. Sound quality hasn’t been too bad. Although I have Xbox, I bought the PlayStation set as I preferred the blue. The faux leather covering on the ear pads has started to wear away over the last 2-3 years and the volume potentiometer is on its way out as the sound sometimes goes in one ear when turning volume up/down. I’m surprised they are still in production and on sale, but that’s testament to the quality. I’ll probably buy another set to replace them.

Comfortable and Great value
Great value for the price. The sound is clear, the microphone works well, and it’s comfortable to wear for long gaming sessions. It’s easy to set up and works with all my devices. The cable is a little basic, but overall it’s a reliable budget headset that I’d happily recommend.

Good quality wired headset that ticks the basics
Good quality wired headset that ticks the basics This Turtle Beach Recon 50X headset feels like a solid bit of kit for the price and does exactly what you’d expect from a reputable brand without costing the earth. The build quality feels good for an affordable wired set, and it’s comfortable enough to wear for a couple of hours of gaming without any discomfort. The ear cushions are soft, and the overall fit sits nicely on the head without feeling too tight. Sound quality is respectable for the price bracket, with clear audio that works well for games and chat alike. It doesn’t have the depth or richness of more premium headsets, but for everyday gaming on Xbox, PlayStation or PC it does the job well enough and helps you hear footsteps and in-game cues without feeling underwhelmed. The wired connection keeps things simple and reliable without having to worry about batteries or pairing issues. Overall it’s a decent budget headset that feels like good quality from a well-known brand and gives you everything needed for casual to regular gaming without breaking the bank.

but they are actually really good quality headphones
I actually bought these for my son, but have ended up using them just as much (if not more) as him. I was expecting much for the price, but they are actually really good quality headphones. Their main purpose is to chat with other players while playing online. I do play online games, but only rarely, so I've not personally used them for that purpose. However, my son is very happy with them and rates them highly. They plug into the dualshock controller and once plugged in, they take seconds to set up (just need to adjust the microphone levels in the PS4 settings, but it comes with a guide if you've not done this before) I play a lot of single player games and watch films on the ps4, but can't really have the volume up when others are sleeping in the house. These headphones have been amazing to use for that purpose. Just simply unplug the microphone and you have a pair of Bluetooth headphones. Well sort of. You still need to have the headphones plugged into the dualshock, but they work perfectly if you just want to use them for headphones for the PS4. Beside the headphones and mic, there is also a volume control and mute switch connected to the wire, so you can adjust the volume and mute the mic when you don't want the people you're gaming with to hear (can save embarrassing/awkward moments!) They are not the best quality headphones money can buy, nor are they the greatest gaming headset on the market, but for the price you can not go wrong.

If you're buying for a child please read!
I've been a gamer for some time, had countless headsets and currently use astro a40s and A50s. Started my gaming journey with turtle beach X11's back in the day which took the brunt of being 1 off a nuke in cod multiplayer rages multiple times. These however, are just awful. I purchased them for my living room console simply so I don't need to move my setup around if I fancy running some games quickly and didn't want wireless. Audio quality is decent but chat mixer is awful and you're constantly battling between the right settings. The headset isn't very comfortable, admittedly in comparison to headsets 10 x the value but still, it's not comfortable after probably 30 mins of gaming. They're a few months old and every single time you graze the aux jack, it crackles for both your end and in party chat. It's like being back on Xbox 360. Now I've used geotech headsets on the based that were also wired, with an angled jack to prevent this from being so prominent. This straight jack plug is just laziness from turtle beach designers. I'm 32, it wasn't a major issue for me but for a child or teenager this would just be a terrible gaming experience. Just spend an extra £10 and go wireless for them. Normally turtle beach is a good reputable brand and high quality. These are no better than something half the price in sound quality in my somewhat experienced opinion. 3 months old and now I'm reviewing because with probably 20 hours of use the they no longer work. The jack issue is likely to blame. I look after my equipment these days and it's just poor cheap build quality leading to inevitable failure.

Excellent Value - For Entry-Level Gaming Headset
For this price point, I can't say anything less than 5 stars for this headset. I was originally going to go with a different product until seeing that the Ear Force Recon 50(X) series, was to release on 9/25/15. I decided to give it a try, and figured why not. For $40 it seemed like a steal! For the most part, it is a steal. PROS: --The headset itself is good looking, at first I thought the green would be a little off-putting compared to the color of my other accessories and peripherals, but it actually looks really great. Of course, this part is subjective. --Very lightweight. This thing only weighs a few ounces, and other than the light sensation of the cups on your ears, you could not even know you have it on. --The mic is detachable, which is awesome. --Further, the mic sounds great. It picks up my voice with a pretty good clarity for an entry-level gaming headset, and the attached covering of the mic essentially works as a pop filter. In fact, I have a fan blowing right by me and it manages to cancel the vast majority of the wind rushing into it from the fan. Solid mic. --The sound is pretty good. Bass and highs are on par for this price point, with the mids being the weakest link of the sound stage. For music and movies it is probably not the best choice, although it would still work more than adequately for those uses. Gaming is where it really shines, and the sound quality is more than good enough for my gaming needs. Footsteps are defined, gunshots and explosions sound great, and voices and dialog sound just fine. --Adaptability and Connectivity: It connects to the Xbox One controller that has the 3.5mm plug-in, and works on any Xbox One controller with the Turtle Beach or Microsoft headset adapter. My controller has the plug directly on it, so it works flawlessly without the need of an adapter. Further, it includes an adapter to change the mic/headphones to two separate plugs and I tested it on my PC and it works great for both sound and mic as well. Even though it is marketed as an Xbox One headset, it works just fine on PC and my iPhone. I don't have a PS4 to try it on, but I would imagine it would work just fine. CONS: --Like mentioned above, the sound is pretty much on par. Nothing special and certainly doesn't blow your mind with audio fidelity. However for this price range I can't imagine it gets much better. Mids could be a bit better with frequency range. --The cord is rather short. Granted, this model is targeted specifically towards the Xbox One, so plugging it into the controller with the cord length is more than enough, and nice because you don't have a huge bundle of cord on your lap when it is plugged into your controller. However, for use with a PC or other device you might need to purchase a 4 pole 3.5mm extension cable to make it a bit longer. I managed to find several on Amazon for a few bucks, so if this is a problem for you I would recommend going the extension cable route instead of disregarding this headset. OVERALL: I rated 5, but would probably give closer to a 4.5. For $40 (current price at time of writing, the day this headset has been released), it is a great deal. I am very happy with it, and use it as my main headset for my Xbox now, and a backup for my PC. Very comfortable, lightweight, sound is more than adequate in terms of quality, and it works with a multitude of devices. For gaming, it is just an all-around great entry-level headset.

Bin schon gespannt, was mein Sohn dazu meint. Frohe Weihnachten! :)
