Our baby is in love with this thing! At night he won't sleep unless it's in his cot where he can see it, and in the day it's hanging on his play arch. The Velcro loop hasn't let us down yet and makes it so easy to hang the star wherever we want, the music sounds so lovely, is so well arranged and beautifully rendered, I have to listen to the thing for hours on end and I find it more soothing than annoying. At the moment he's too small to play with it in tap mode, but as he gets older that's a feature I think is going to be great. I can honestly say it's some of the best money we've ever spent on toys for him.

My baby lovessss this . She won’t go anywhere without it and it helps her go to sleep when she’s in the pram . It’s durable and easy to use and the size is perfect as it’s not too big or too small. It’s also colourful.

Going off other reviews I got this for my 3 month old, she's just started being interested in toys and she loves this, wish I brought it sooner. She interacts with this more than any of her other toys, she reaches for it, bats it and watches it quietly so I can get stuff done which was impossible before as leaving the room would result in screaming. It comes with batteries so up and running straight out the box. The lights move with the music and it has 2 volume settings. You can either have it on constantly which I do or there is another setting where it plays music if you tap it. It can be put pretty much anywhere with the Velcro loop (for me the bouncer and playmat are winners) and it's not too big. It's been on pretty much constantly but it hasn't started to annoy me like her other noisy toys, I think it's because the music isn't as sharp and brash as others. This has been a god send and will recommend to any parent.

I bought this Baby Einstein star when my daughter was 5 weeks old, I chose it for the fact it will play music when knocked without the need to press any buttons. I attached it to her play gym and she loved kicking it with her feet, a great toy for introducing the idea of cause and effect. The star is sturdy and good quality, the face is made from a soft plastic and the points from a silky fabric. On the reverse there is both a hanging loop and a strap that closes with velcro, although we have found that the velcro is not very strong and is easy for an older baby to pull off. There are 2 different volume levels neither is super loud so it doesn't become annoying. The music has a gentle and pleasant sound and there are 2 different modes that are easily changed with a switch. The first is motion activated, which is the one we mostly use. In this setting once the star is tapped or shaken a 10 second snippet of one of the tunes will play. In the second mode the music plays continuously by itself and each of the melodies is longer. Whilst the music plays there are 3 lights on the face of the star that flash in time to the music. The main issue we have had with this toy is that the paint is starting to chip off of the face, even though it hasn't had any particularly rough play. I also think it would have improved the toy if the stars points were made of different textures of fabrics to add more sensory interest. My daughter is now nearly 3 but we kept hold of this toy and are using it again with our second child. To begin with we hung it on his bouncy chair arch where him kicking his legs would rock the chair enough to activate the motion activated music. Now that he is a bit older we put it next to him when on his play mat or in tummy time and he likes to whack it with his arms (see video) Overall an engaging and soothing toy for a young baby. It would make an excellent first toy or baby shower gift. It is still well loved even by my daughter, who likes to carry it around with her when her brother's not playing with it. Highly recommend.

Well worth price and item very intuitive sensitive to trigger it light and sound. I’m so pleased my baby likes toy!

Honestly when I first brought this I wondered what all the rave reviews were about as it’s just a light up star that plays a tune.. but because it had so many good reviews I took a punt! This thing literally saved many meltdowns when I had a newborn (and we used it up until about 6 months), would often put it on to calm our daughter down in those early months and the tunes would often send her to sleep. I’ve since brought a couple as gifts which have been greatly received with great feedback. I’d thoroughly recommend this, it was a honestly a life saver at times!!

My little one absolutely loves this! I tend to attach it to the toy bar of his chair as the toys on it don't grab his attention but this definitely does he reaches for it every time. I love that it has 2 modes as he likes to be constantly entertained which can be hard but I can actually go make a coffee now! 😆 the continuous mode is great for that but the response mode is so good for his development & only requires a little nudge so perfect for little hands. To attach to his toy bar I just use an extra clip I have in the top loop, he easily grabs the fabric around the edges (only thing that could be better is if the fabric was sensory). I've found it's well worth the money it was exactly what I was after!

Update: 2 years later. My 3 month old son adores this as much as my daughter did. I did notice that after 2 years of constant use something happened to peel off a bit of paint in one eye. So the paint does come off, as people have said, but not easily. I see no reason to get a new one (except that my first kid is now a toddler and thinks all toys belong to her!). I got this for my 2 month old (who is now 4 months old!) because I noticed she loved bright colors, music and big happy smiles. This toy matched all of that so perfectly it was nuts! But the bad reviews made me super disappointed. I thought I found the best toy ever, and was discouraged by the complaints. I ultimately bought it one night despite the bad reviews because it was fairly cheap and the desire to make a baby smile is overpowering. I love this thing! At 2 months old I put it on the setting for it to play non-stop for a few minutes since my daughter wasn't reliably hitting things yet. She's lay there and smile and coo for ever. Now that she can hit things, I have it on the motion setting. She'll lay there and smack this happy sun. I don't really understand how other people complained of paint chipping. There isn't much paint on this to begin with, and it doesn't seem like the eyes or mouth will chip. The colorful sides are sewn well, and the light inside is fine. It's just the one color but my little girl doesn't care. The velcro on the back is very strong and there is also a loop for various hanging options. We use rechargeable batteries and this has had the same ones since we got it 2 months ago. I'd highly recommend this. No complaints.

the colours are fine but the sound quality is not good. I was expecting better speakers with a brand name such as baby einstein. The look is pretty good though, and my baby loves looking at it. it’s easy to strap on the cot too.

Alex hates diaper changes. He has an Ikea mobile on top of the changer, but he only sees it when he's calm, and diaper changes make him cranky. After my mom played a musical box while I changed his diaper, we found that this soothes him, and came to the conclusion that he needed some music to be distracted. This was the perfect fit! The star has the perfect size, we can choose if we want the music to play in a loop, or if we want to use it as an interactive toy (for which Alex is a little bit small still, so he will be using the star for months to come). And it is waaay cheaper than buying the aquarium toy or any other. This is just the right fit to mesmerize a baby and distract him for a while. The star plays simplified versions of classic music, a little Vivaldi, Bach, Mozart, etc. ---> After a month of use, Alex is still interested in the star and loves to bat at it, specially to activate de music. The last two days it has been turning on weird, maybe it's time for a battery change, we use it every day with every diaper change, so around 8-13 times a day for about five minutes. -----> After almost a year of use: this was one of my baby's favourite toys. This star is now one of my favourite baby memorabilia. It was his favourite toy to the extent that his 1st birthday party is themed stars and rainbows and I'm making a cake with this design! Loved it. Even if the first one broke and we asked for a replacement, this was wonderful.
