The video I posted was a cut on seasoned dry red oak. And I applied no pressure. The cutting edges are very sharp and easily cut into the wood. Now that I have had more time with it; I really like it. To answer your question, yes it does for me. Just as fast as my other Japanese style saws and due to the handy size and grip. I can make precise cuts. Hope this helps. **Q: Can this hand saw cut plastic?** A: This works great for my wood working project and cuts great. It is very sharp, so if the plastic is not super thick, this may work for you.
