5 years and still going strong
It’s time to do a review of positives and negatives of this amazing coffee maker.I recently swapped it with a friend for an all in one Philips series 5500. But the coffee from the De Longhi is superior. There is no grinder so I grind my own coffee of use pre ground. The coffee is nice and hot. The noise level is low and it does cappuccino style milk as well as hot milk. I love hot milk and the Philips doesn’t do that. It’s easy to clean and I love this machine.OK. One negative. If you leave the machine on too long it goes to standby and when it kicks back in, it won’t make coffee so you need to switch it if and on.One more negative. If I make a coffee then do the milk I can’t make a second coffee without turning the machine off and on again. So I make the two or three coffees I need and do the milk on one go.All in all, this is the best coffee machine I’ve ever had and after 5 years, it’s still going strong.

Makes fabulous coffee, programmed to your individual tastes
My first impression was that it was a beautiful and compact machine that would look lovely in my kitchen to replace a 5 year old pod machine which I felt was not environmentally friendly.I read the instructions carefully because that's the kind of person I am. I suspect that if you are not a read the instructions kind of person you may be disappointed with the coffee that you get!So, I cleaned it as instructed and set it up. Then I ran the circuit program to clean the insides. No problem at all. Now, I live in a hard water area so wanted to change that setting. I read the instructions again and made my first attempt, this resulted in my getting water everywhere. I realised that I hadn't been quick enough to press the right button and it made me a cup of coffee instead. I suggest removing the drip tray and putting a container under the outlet when in programming mode, just in case. Some reviews say that the coffee isn't hot enough. Well, you can change the temperature of the water. I like mine hot so I changed the setting to hot, it made very hot coffee.I like espresso, cappuccino and flat white. Espresso is easy, just use the 1 cup basket. The first time I tried the coffee took ages to come through, I realised that I'd tamped too much. The second time was much better. However, I need to mention my next issue, I really really struggled to twist the handle to lock the holder into place. I found myself wrestling with the machine for several minutes. Having used it for a few days now, it does get easier and it locks into position without the wrestling.Note that the tamper that comes with the machine is okay but you need to hold it at the bottom, if you push the top, it bends alarmingly. I bought the wood and metal tamper which is much easier to use.Cappuccino etc is also easy once you realise how the frother works. I recommend watching a YouTube video but basically you pop the ring up for hot milk and down for frothy milk. To get the wand off, twist to the right and pull down. It's easy once you know how. Cleaning it was straightforward. My final choice is for a mug of coffee, and I do have a few of these every day! To achieve this I reprogrammed the 2 cup button to run more water through the machine using the 2 cup filter basket and 10g coffee. I have a slightly larger mug too, to fill this one I use 12g ground coffee, my reprogrammed 2 cup button, and then the default 1 cup button to get an extra 60ml of water through.I absolutely love, love, love this machine. It makes perfect coffee every time xxxxx

Great starter espresso machine with a few things worth knowing
Really pleased with this machine. It was easy to set up and produces a really good espresso once you get used to using it. I watched a YouTube setup video and followed it step by step, which made the initial setup very straightforward. One tip I would give is to have some cheap coffee available when you first set it up. You need to make around four shots as part of the initial setup before the fifth is ready to drink, so I wouldn’t waste your good coffee doing this. The steam wand works really well for frothing milk. I particularly like that you can push the setting up for hot milk or down for cappuccino depending on what you’re making. I bought a separate milk thermometer so I can make sure the milk reaches the temperature I want when making hot drinks, and I’ve found this really useful. The water tank is a decent size and lasts for a few espresso shots and hot drinks before I need to refill it.One thing I noticed is that if you overfill the portafilter with coffee, it won’t slot into the machine properly. If this happens, I just take a little coffee out and try again. Once you know not to overfill it, it’s not really an issue. The included plastic tamper and scoop could definitely be better quality, but they do the job when you’re first starting out. I also like that there are plenty of accessories available separately, so you can gradually upgrade your setup if you get more into making coffee. The drip tray is removable and easy to wash, and there’s a handy little red indicator that rises when the tray is getting full and needs emptying.Mine unfortunately arrived with the piece for using espresso capsules missing. Thankfully I don’t use capsules so it hasn’t affected me, but it was disappointing for a new machine to arrive with a part missing.I also really like the colour and design of the machine. It matches my kitchen perfectly, doesn’t look out of place on the worktop and doesn’t take over the whole space. It’s been a great introduction to making espresso, cappuccinos and other milk-based coffees at home. There are a couple of small things that could be improved, but I’m really happy with the machine and the coffee it produces

Speedy, long lasting space saving machine, 4+ years
Long lasting space saving machine!Works like a charm and I do descale it properly and I use distilled water.I love it because It occupies very little space and I have a grinder too from Delonghi so my coffee is freshly brewed everyday!I got one of the bottomless porta filter coffee handle and basket. The cream, aroma and taste are better than a coffee shop.I was on a budget when I bought this and it saved me a lot of money as I stop buying coffees outside and also I paid a reasonable amount for a coffee machine that has its own tank rather than needing pressure and other connections.I make a lot of coffees everyday and I’m very pleased with it!It is a bit loud but its fast so that is no bother to me. When I hear the sound and smell of fresh coffee, I know my day begins the right way thanks to Dedica Delonghi and I didn’t even try to create a headline 😂They better give me royalties for this! Now seriously if you want a no fuss, good quality at a reasonable price coffee machine that lasts in time, then get this one.I had several coffee machines before this but stopped searching with this one.My family has sage and other more expensive coffees but I prefer mine and now I could afford a more expensive one but I’ll stick to this one as this is how pleased I am with it. Is the speed of it that I love!

Weak pump, portafilter issues
I've been using this machine for 6 months or so. My overall impression is that the pump is not strong enough to force through a double espresso to the point where a decent amount of crema is created. I've experimented with filling the filter 3/4 full and this produces a weak espresso, and when you fill it to the top and tamper it down a little the pump can only produce a dribble, or it simply stops and you have to start again.I've been wondering if I have a faulty machine to be honest. It's that weak. But I guess it's an entry level machine and so you get what you pay for?Otherwise, when you remove the portafilter to clean out the basket of coffee grinds, the basket get's stuck in the machine. This means you have to remove it with your hands and you get into a terrible mess.Apart from that the milk wand is good.

Easy to use and makes lovely coffee
I love this coffee machine, it is so easy to use and heats up quickly. It makes lovely coffee and the steam wand is impressive, there are two options to choose from - hot milk or cappuccino milk. I have tried several coffee machines now, this one definitely has the best steam wand and the wand is easier to keep clean as the hot milk doesn’t seem to stick to it so much. This machine also seems happy to make two or three consecutive coffees without any issues, this was a problem with our last machine. The slim design of this machine means it doesn’t take up much space, it also looks stylish. I would definitely recommend this Delonghi coffeee machine, for ease of use and coffee quality, and also value for money.

A big step up from a pod machine. Easy to use when you get the hang of it and makes heavenly coffee
I love my coffee and I have wanted an espresso machine with portafilter for a long time. I had tried the pod machines and used refillable pods, grinding my own beans. But I just knew I could get better coffee so I picked this up when the vine sale hit and it looked more reasonable in price. I am so happy I did. It's like night and day in comparison.I chose the silver look as it's just a metal finishing and easy to wipe down. Out the box it is easy to assemble. You get the machine, a tiny drip tray, portafilter handle, 2 portafilters (a 1 cup, and a 2 cup), a hefty instruction book and descaling fluid (cleaning). Make sure you follow the instructions about 1st use to flush out any nastyness.Espresso is easy even for a novice. Just pop the filter into the handle, fill with ground coffee and tap down with tamper. Then twist the handle in until it locks. There's a power button on the side and when the lights stop flashing hit the 1 or 2 cup option. In 30 seconds you'll have a tasty espresso. You can then hit the 1 or 2 cup option to add more hot water and make it a longer drink. The filter holder twists in securely. It is a bit tough if you're not used to it. So just hold the top of the machine to get a bit of leverage. The filters are pressurised and use a small point in the middle. I changed them over for a more open basket. There's also a rubber seal which can effect flavour. Inside the holder/ handle there is a plastic flow director... Again it's plastic which is porous and can leach bad flavours and effects the taste so if you remove it (1 screw underneath) your coffee will taste wonderful again. The water tank is easy to fill and big enough for an afternoon or day of making coffee. The wand for making hot water or frothy milk works a treat. It is tricky at 1st but try and get the spout just on the surface of the milk and adjust up or down a little . When you get the hang of it it makes wonderfully frothy creamy milk for espressos. It does recommended semi skimmed but full fat milk is wonderful to do if a little more tricky. You can also just get hot water from the wand for tea or top ups which is a great excuse to replace the kettle. Just make sure you undo the wand and rinse and wipe after use to keep it fresh. The drip tray is pretty useless unless you are only using tiny mugs. It gives you very little clearance. So I just removed it and used the lower one, then wipe with a cloth.Noise. This is not quiet but it is a serious machine. As long as it is in a separate room from the family you will be ok. If you have an open plan kitchen / living room you might be banished to another part of your home with the machine.Space. This has a fantastic narrow profile so it takes up the same width of counter or desk space as a kettle and because it has a water tank you can set this up in almost any room of your house or office. There is enough space on the top to sit a couple of mugs which is great for sleepy morning prep.Cleaning is really easy and there are lots of accessories available for this machine to.Good quality and value. Highly recommended. Thank you for reading my review. I hope you found it useful

Good for what I use it for.
I bought this in November 2025 - I always wait a while before writing a review so that I can give a more honest view based on experience.I will be upfront in saying that I have only used it to make Espresso (I only drink black coffee) so I cannot comment on the milk frothing capabilities. This is a nice looking machine which has a nice sleek design and is compact enough to fit into my small kitchen.Basic operation is simple with a quick warm-up and brewing times, easily accessible controls and relatively quiet brewing. Some features such as water temperature can be customised but I had to do some internet searching to find out how to do these since the De’Longhi online support was pretty woeful. The acid test for any coffee machine is the final result and that is largely down to the quality of the coffee used and personal taste. All I can say is that I am really happy with the results using my usuaI relatively inexpensive supermarket ground coffee. For those who value such things, the crema is pretty good.Overall a nice product that suits my needs at a reasonable price.

Good customer service from LBY
I bought the machine from LBY thinking that it would come with the Singapore/UK plug. Upon arrival, I realized it comes with the EU plug and the warranty is not valid in Singapore.Contacted the seller and they refunded $10 to get a adapter plug and offered to cover repairs up to the cost of the machine within 1 year.I’m impressed by the service and I’m happy with the purchase as it cost about $80 lower than local stores and the machine works well.
