Motorcycle Chain Breaker and Riveter/Riveting Tool/For 420-532 chains-Complete Kit

I decided to replace my chain and sprocket set on my CBR1000 recently. Obviously I needed a tool to do the job and made the mistake of going for a very generic chain breaker/riveter. In the hands of an experienced mechanic they may well do the job just fine but personally I found them tricky to handle, line up and basically getting it to do the job I needed.After a lot of messing around and a broken tool part I took a chance and spent a fair amount more for this version, largely because I know Motorax do have a name to sustain and I was very pleasantly surprised by just how much better this tool was than my first purchase. The push plates come in three different sizes and fit well on the big boys bike I have and the various other parts of the kit make the job a lot easier to do with some confidence, Even my fumbling first attempts felt more assured and right and where I made missteps the tool allowed me to correct where the previous one just broke.It's worth the extra money for the build quality and the fact that it's simply a far more friendly tool to use. Considering the cost of the chain, how vital the job is, and the fact that I intend to do the job again in the future I can only say that a good tool always gives a much better experience and it's already saved me an hour or so's garage cost (or more) which is the cost of the tool anyway. Next job it'll have already paid itself off.Avoid the temptation to save the difference in cash and get the right tool for the job, this worked nicely for me.

I decided in my infinite wisdom to strip my motorbike down and thought it a good idea to remove the chain and give a good scrub. I have never done this before, albeit I have removed a chain on a push bike many times using a similar tool as this one but on a much smaller scale.I reviewed youtube, as you do, to get any ideas and feedback on the rights and wrongs of completing such a task and reviewed a number of options.I decided to go with this tool as it reminds me of the pushbike chain removing tool I have used and the price seemed very reasonable compared to other designs.I have read and heard all the horror stories about grinding down the rivet first etc etc, but not having a grinding tool available I hand no option but to go for a cold removal.Aligning the tool was easy, the unit feels very robust and quality made so I was confident to start turning the rivet remover. There was a bit of resistance, as you would expect, but once the rivet popped the extraction was simple. It took all of 10 minutes.I haven't put the rivet back in yet but I am sure the tool will complete the task as diligently as it removed it.I would recommend this tool

Not the cheapest tool, but not the most expensive either. I have used once to break and rivet a DID 525VX chain and it did the job.I used an angle grinder to grind off the pin head before attempting to break the chain (as recommended by just about everyone) and the breaking was almost effortless. The slightly more tricky task of riveting required a little creative interpretation of the instructions, but got it done in the end. My only criticism is that the riveting ball point is quite a wide gauge and therefore took a lot of effort and a breaker bar extension to securely rivet the pin. I would recommend to anyone requiring to break/rivet the occasional chain.

After 3 different chain tools over the years that either didn't work or broke too easily I'm very pleased with this one.It's well made and easy to use, dont be tempted by the useless chain tools half the price (in the cheap plastic cases made out of brittle and oily cast metal).This Motrax tool has a robust quality feel confirming you get what you pay for and it will pay for itself after a couple of uses valued against paying someone else to fit your chains for you.

Bought this to rivet a new 530 chain to my Yamaha. I did quite a bit of research on line before I chose this. Some of the kits on offer for £10 - £15 on ebay did not seem to have the good feed back this product did. I have to say I was very pleased with this product. It is well made and comes with instructions. Although the instructions are not the best. In all, a good buy for a non professional like me it did the job I wanted and did it well. I would say good value for the money

I bought this chain breaker a bit worried that I'd be spending out on something that won't be up to the job as I have no experience in replacing a chain.......HOW WRONG WAS I FOR BEING WORRIED!!?? as it turns out, very!This pushed the pin out with no trouble whatsoever, it probable took less than a minute.when it came to replacing the chain, that too went like a dream...took a bit longer than a minute but that's because I didn't want to get it wrong..... if I had to do it again then I'm sure It would be done quicker.Overall I'm happy I purchased this.....only thing i can thing of as a negative is it doesn't come in a nice case.....but it lives in my tool box now.

Bought to install rivet links on 3 of my bikes chains... first one went absolutely fine... second it split the rivet then 3rd the same split again... I went and got new masterlinks (renthal r3) and same scenario... after inspection I find the tool was twisted and pulling off centre on a half turn ... dont bother buying guys

It works, and it does the job, but it's not the easiest tool to use on a decent chain. When trying to set the link plate and when flaring the rivets, it's a hard tool to turn, I've got gorilla hands and enough strength to use them but even I found it a tough ask. Perhaps the handle could be a bit longer, or maybe someone should invent a small hydraulic version. Anyway, for the amount of times it'll be used, chain every three years or so, I'm not too worried, it worked and the chain is still on, so it's all good.
