what is the orange plastic piece?

I have the hornby junior express train, does the a pack extension work with this set?

The R8221-00 track set will Not work with the jr express train set. The train set that you have uses plastic "snap" together track which is not compatable to the normal Horby track because it uses metal tabs called "fish plates" to join the track sections together.

I have a Hornby train set, Need the entire track and power source. is this product only an extension? how much is the entire oval track ?
