Fluke 117 Electrician's Ideal Multimeter with Non-Contact Voltage

I love this. I bought this for my aquariums to measure stray electricity and it is perfect.

I worked in the water industry for 2 years as a spark. With my head buried in all kinds of motor starter panels and joint boxes. This was and still is my go to meter! Does everthing a professional spark needs! I bought a seperate pouch for this as the fluke version is a hilariously stupid price. The meter display is a bit annoying like a previous review mentioned as you do seem to need to look at it head on otherwise you can't see it. Easy to select what you need. Shuts off on its own if you leave it on. Can take some abuse. All in all an excellent meter! If you need a meter you can't go wrong.

This is the second one I have one for work and now one for home well worth the money.

We already have a couple of Fluke test instruments that have served us really well over the years, so decied to go for the 117 model as we needed another Multimeter for a new product we are developing. I really like the 117 as it has the Autovolt setting and it has display illumination - very useful as we are testing out some prototypes in the back of 19" racks where thre isnt much light. Great peice of kit!

Having owned several electrical test devices over the years, I was looking forward to the arrival of the 117 device from Fluke. The build quality and functionality of the unit are market leading. But like other reviewers have pointed out, the LED screen could be easier to read when not looking directly at it. But the biggest cause of my dissatisfaction is the poor quality of the test leads. Even products costing half this price come with silicone covered, flexible test leads, and the poor quality of the ones supplied with this unit is very disappointing. I will be upgrading them for Fluke TL175 test leads soon - but I struggle to understand why leads of the quality of the TL175’s are not supplied as standard with the 117 unit - as the current ones spoil what is otherwise an excellent product. !

This is an awesome bit of kit, works perfectly. The probes are far and above the quality of any cheaper meters, and the included carry case is very nice, if a little big. Overall, if you are after a feature packed multimeter that will last for years then this is perfect.

Use the next model up from this one at work but for for my home electronics projects and simple installs around the house I don't need to measure temperature, this meter is by far head and shoulders above the rest - Don't bother buying a terrible Chinese one, thinking you are saving a few quid because they almost always break after being dropped. You are guaranteed a quality product from Fluke which is why they are most commonly found in industry service.
