The only issue was the expander zipper would not close and the wheels started to wear down. The new one seems as well built, the lock is now at the top versus side which is nice and the handle is improved with a full rubber cover. It has just finished it's second trip and no problem. The case is made of material that is tough and can take a beating. I have not seen any major issues with scratches, though I had the black and now the silver color. Each set of wheels are tilted in on the new one which seems to provide a smoother ride. Time will tell if it will hold up as well but so far so good. One issue people may run into is the handle is wide which may prevent hanging bags on that have straps to go over the handles. A back pack is tight but fits around the handle.
