Punches above its weight
The Hamilton Khaki Field auto has long been on my radar as supposedly one of the best 'affordable' watches out there. Now that I own one, I have to say I'm very impressed with the quality of this watch considering the price. The brushed case/polished bezel combination works really well. There's a nice weight to the watch, and while the 38mm case felt small at first on my wrist (I'm used to 40mm watches), I quickly got used to it. The dial is fairly 'busy' but doesn't feel cluttered, and is very legible. The display caseback is also a nice feature, allowing you to see the watch's inner workings. The strap is comfortable and feels good quality. I think the Hamilton holds its own very well against watches 2 or 3 times as expensive, but it does so in a very understated way - which for me adds to the appeal. Add to that Hamilton's history as a brand, and I think you're hard pressed to find another watch at this price point that's as well rounded and such good value for for money. While it's essentially a tool watch, I wear it as a more relaxed dress watch and feel it fits that bill pretty well. A couple of pieces of advice though. Bear in mind that if you buy from Amazon, the warranty card won't be dealer stamped, and the 2 year warranty won't be valid. You might want to consider paying slightly more through a dealer/watch shop to have that piece of mind. Also, make sure you understand how to set the date safely so that you don't damage the movement. If you use the date function at the wrong time (when it's getting ready to change, or shortly afterwards), it's my understanding that the mechanism is put under unnecessary pressure. I did some research online, and it seems the best time to set the date is 5 o'clock - safely outside the time period when the date mechanism is engaged. Overall, I don't think you can go wrong with this watch, and I recommend it to all of my friends with even a slight interest in watches.

what a bargain
Have been looking for a flieger/military style watch for everyday use. The Hamilton Khaki auto was one I had looked at and was definitely on the radar. The quality and pedigree seemed to be well worth the £500 rrp price tag. Although I do buy a lot of things from Amazon I didnt really consider buying a watch from there. Imagine my surprise and delight when I saw it for for £410 with for some reason a further £80 discount voucher on it. I immediately ordered it and got it for £320. The order then got cancelled by Amazon for no apparent reason, I re-ordered it after speaking to customer service and it arrived 2 days later. I am really pleased with it and super pleased with the price I paid. It is a very fine watch even at the full price

Very Nice Watch
This is a very nice watch, and probably my favourite watch I own now. Will be my daily from now on. Just the right size, seems to be keeping time very well, and will look good as a dress watch or casual. Good value for money, would recommend.

Bought one for Dad
You know when you are into something and think it would make a good present for someone you know? Well, I had recently ‘got into’ automatic watches, and had read about how the Hamilton Khaki Automatic was one of the best in its price range. Then one day, fate brought together the need for a birthday present for my father and a price reduction on Amazon for this watch. It was meant to be! I duly purchased the watch and presented it to my Dad. He seemed happy and pleased (he doesn’t really know about watches - he wore a Timex). Great I thought. I’ve got him a really nice automatic watch and he appreciates it. A month or so later I noticed he has his old Timex on... I wish I’d kept it for myself now!

Accuracy - disappointing.
In many ways this ought to be the perfect watch for me. I have others - Omegas for dress and Casios for rough outdoors. But this should be the best every day all rounder. I love the design. The face is easy to read and it feels comfortable and pleasant to wear. It ticks almost every box except one. Accuracy. I have had the watch since 2017 and it has spent at least six months of that time back with the manufacturer because it just cant keep accurate time. Certainly not the plus or minus two seconds a day that other reviews are claiming. The first time it went back it was gaining more than 20 secs a day. The second time, it was the same. Very frustrating because I LIKE THIS WATCH! I just want it to keep good time. The second time it went away the diagnosis I received was that it had been ‘magnetised’. In other words it had come into contact with a strong magnet at some point that must have disrupted the accuracy. I have no idea what that might have been. We are surrounded by electrical devices in the modern world. Radios, TV, Speakers, whatever. No way of know which or what it might have been. But when I got the watch back it did keep better time - for a while. I was delighted with + and - 3” a day. But not now. I am almost back where I started. + or - 15” a day is a good day. OK, it’s not the end of the world. Just, disappointing. I don’t think I would want any other watch if this keep perfect time it would do me for keeps.
