Lot to learn fron a small item, Great Find, Each time I use the TrackBall the more I love it....
WOW now i have an issue !! ?? brought this trackball, because with my degenerative desease I was at times not able to use my mouse. I was surprised at just how far they have moved forwards, the last trackball I brought was in the 90s, So I was very surprised at its senticy of movement, which I am now trying to get used to. I now have this trakball & my mouse plugged in and switch to what ever I can use the easiest. Deffo recomend, but it is NOT a quick fix, it will take time n patience to get the trackball adjusted to your needs. Stick with it and you wont be dissappointed. I opted `for the usb version of this track ball, just becase the items i use already my battery charger is struggling to cope.

The only mouse I would consider using
This is the third Kensington trackball mouse that I have purchased for laptops and CCTV system and the first is still functioning beautifully after six years of daily use; up to eight hours a day. I have a shoulder problem which limits the use of an ordinary mouse or touchpad so a trackball mouse is much more comfortable and easier to use. This Kensington mouse is ergonomically perfect, stylish and accurate; allowing me to use it for longer with less physical strain. A simple colour combination of silver and black gives it a classic appeal. The large ball gives greater control of movement of the cursor and works perfectly with both Windows and Linux. I have tried other trackball devices but none of them have been so naturally well suited to my way of working. A little more in terms of cost than some others but definitely worth the extra if you have to spend a lot of time on a computer.

Mostly beats a mouse but no scroll-wheel!! Still fantastic though :))
Hi :) Fantastic device! :)) It worked straight-away in Linux, specifically Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Raspberrian, LibreElec and Noobs. It took Arch a minute or so to see it in Kodi but still without me having to do anything. :)) Now that i have gotten used to it i think a trackball is MUCH easier than any 'normal' mouse. It is especially good in various situations such as where desk-space is limited or where moving a mouse around is tricky, or if you've got a sprained/broken wrist. In some ways it's a bit like using a touchpad or touch-screen except the ball can keep going round much further. So it is very different and does take a looong time to get used to it. When i had only used 'normal' mice it took me 3 weeks to adapt to a trackball. Long ago I used a much heavier trackball that took more effort to get going but then could coast along for a moment even when i let go. In this one the trackball is much lighter but stops instantly when i stop. So it handles very differently but it only took me a day to adjust enough for most usages. The main problem is the lack of scroll-wheel or up/down button and this is pretty serious for a mouse!! It's why i 'had to' drop at least one star :(( Fortunately i can work-around the issue temporarily but it's a bit of a pain. Somewhere inside Linux it's probably possible to configure it so that pressing both mouse buttons makes the ball itself into a scroll-wheel. I'm not a programmer but i'm sure someone, somewhere has done something similar that can be copied&adapted. So, it's mostly fantastic with just 1 weird drawback. Many thanks and regards from Tom :)

The only ergonomic Kensington trackball
I've bought three of these, as they are (to me) the only ergonomic finger mouse that you can buy in the UK, bar the extremely overpriced Kensington slimblade which tbh isnt quite as good and isnt quite as ergonomic. As Amazon muddles all of these reviews together, this one is for the Kensington Orbit WITHOUT the scroll ring. I have.... A lot of issues with these and tbh this is a rant that could go on and on, but I still buy them as there's little real alternative if you want a genuinely ergonomic finger trackball. The bad: Base is naturally unstable - you will have to glue or stick something under the cable end or it will rock like crazy every time you use it without your hand on the rest. The buttons will give out after a couple of years of use. It uses that rubberised coating on the rest that inevitably goes skanky and sticky after a few years (and even quicker with regular use). The ball is... Sometimes manufactured ok and sometimes not. If the randomly generated pattern of the grey ball has a completely black spot on it (two of mine do) you will have a dead zone in the movement. Thankfully the ball is easily removable and can also be replaced with the blue ball from the orbit with scroll wheel which has a proper micro pattern and thus always works. The orbit with scroll is a truly dreadful mouse from an ergonomic perspective tho. The sensor is cheap as chips and is comparable to a very cheap office mouse. It would have been considered high end in 1999. Even worse is that it uses an energy saving mode (why???) so expect a second wake up lag every time you leave it alone for a minute. There is no ability to scroll. Personally this doesn't bother me much as I only use office programs (I work in law) I remember computers before scrolling was a thing and I'm handy with keyboard shortcuts, but there are programs out there outside of my profession that now require a scroll wheel of some sort. I get that this is a decades old design, but surely Kensington could find a way to implement a modifier button at least. The manufacturing is shoddy and very hit and miss. Black spots on the balls aside, I've had some very scratchy balls and the feel of the buttons on all of these is very inconsistent despite being the same model. The good: and the reason this review has three stars - there is nothing else currently manufactured and for sale in the UK that fits this ergonomic profile.

Fits the hand well. Easy to set up. I have been using a well known marble mouse for years, but it appears to be obsolete now. Any on the secondary market are horrendously overpriced, so finding this as a replacement is great.

Ótima qualidade e precisão. Para usar a rolagem (simulando a roda do meio do mouse) precisa do software, que vc deve configurar o click dos dois botões laterais como simulando o click do botão do meio do mouse convencional.

Having used the Logitech trackball for years, but when it was time to replace Logitech's prices went too high. So, recently tried the Kensington with the Ring and found it to be too wide for most hands here...to the point of being uncomfortable and clumsy. Decided to take a chance on this one without the "ring" and what a difference! The width is just right and the ball moves ever so smoothly and quickly and stops easy too! It is being used on a Linux O/S and absolutely no problems. Highly recommend this mouse. For those who need to know the size width: The narrowest part where your hand lies across the top (to click either left or right side of mouse) is approx. 2.25 inches. Compared to the same brand with "the ring" which is approx. 3 full inches. Also the highest height of the ball on the "ring" model is 2.50 inches and on THIS model it is a half inch lower. SO you can see by these measurements this model is much more suitable for smaller hands, or hurting/stiff hands. Additionally, other reviewers stated that the trackball is loose and falls out...I too noticed that my trackball was not seated all the way in. I took it out and examined it and saw that there is a clear piece of plastic that was stuck on the ball and had rolled to the under side of the ball. It was hard to see because it was clear and had black writing on it and the ball is a very dark gray. I think this piece of plastic had some warning on it -- maybe to remove before use...but it was difficult to see. Now that that is removed the only way I can remove the ball from its place is to turn the mouse over and it gently falls out so that you clean/dust it off. It never just falls out or pops out...unless something is in the way. Its a great little mouse...thinking about getting another one!

I've always wanted a trackball mouse, after using my aunt's awesome Logitech one I've always wanted my own, late last year I finally got one. The Kensington Orbit is a comfortable and easy to use trackball mouse. Compared to some other trackball mice it's design is pretty simple featuring the Trackball and the right and left click buttons. Its a minimalist design that serves the product well. It's pretty light and not as chunky as some other mice. My only gripe with this is the fact that it dosent have a scroll wheel, so if I want to go down I have to track back to the scroll bar and manually scroll down. That being said there is more good than bad here. This is a great little mouse and I'm happy with my purchase.
