The best FIFA yet.
This is the review of my 9 year old son who has previously had FIFA 2011 and 2016. He loved both those games and he saved up his money for this one and pre-ordered. Well done Amazon for the Price promise on pre-order items and refunding the difference. The game did not take long to install. The Journey is a great story mode with a real sense of reality including social media etc. He loves the manager mode......buying and selling players, negotiating contracts etc. he thinks the 'interaction' in negotiations etc. is great. The most important part of the game is the gameplay. The graphics are the best yet. Very lifelike. The running style is more realistic. I must admit to playing with my boy.......great fun.......problem is he is so much better than me........and always wins! Great game for all aspects of football. Not cheap but what this game contains and the hours it will entertain, it is great value. The best FIFA yet.

The most realistic and addictive football experience!
FIFA 18 encapsulates everything I've ever wanted from a football game, even if I didn't always realise it. I haven't bought an instalment in the FIFA series since 2012, back in the days of Xbox 360. The occasional game around a mates house on 13, 14 etc. etc. was always good fun but they never seemed to change much from my perspective, except for becoming slightly more challenging. Therefore I should note that FIFA 18 will have been my introduction to features previously experienced by FIFA fanatics. Here's my summary: The Good - Career mode is highly addictive with the tension and strategy of transfer decisions and keeping your players happy with play time during the season, making the experience incredibly authentic. - The Journey: Hunter Returns - this is probably the biggest highlight of the game. The story is well-written and captivating, the opportunity to dictate your story through chosen responses is great and the cameos from well-known stars of the game is the cherry on top. I played the first part of the Journey around my mates' house and thought it was good but ended abruptly, Part 2 is lengthy and full of great content. - The game mechanics feel very fluid combined with realistic effects and stadium crowd ambience. There are occasional awkward graphic moments when a plays body positioning is too out of place to get any power behind the ball yet it screams into the top corner. The Bad - Alan Smith's commentary. Sorry Alan, nothing personal but unfortunately your recorded sound bites of commentary which eventually start to repeat are more grating than those of Martin Tyler's. In addition to this, there are so many contradictory moments of commentary; such as when I scored a header with David Luiz, proceeded with the game and five minutes later nearly scored with his head again only for it to go over the bar. What did the computer generate as Alan's comment? 'Yeah, not known for his heading this boy and you can see why there.' He literally scored with his head five minutes ago Alan! - Licensing - I know, I know, FIFA is superior when it comes to licensing and all of the brand aspects they are allowed to feature, but that doesn't stop having to play in the "EA Champions Cup" rather than the UEFA Champions League any less disappointing. A minor issue I grant you but still a shame. - Variety in 'The Journey' - again very minor but I would have wanted more chances to show the personality of Alex Hunter a bit more. There was a point after returning to Europe from America that I felt I was playing a game, then training, then another game, then more training and so on for too long without some nice juicy side plots. I also would have wanted to play with Kim for a few more games but we'll see what the next chapter offers. - Soundtrack - there's a couple of good songs on here and some would say that this is not a fundamental feature of a FIFA game. However, the track lists of games of old were superior to what Final words In case you have just bothered to read my thoughts on this video game, thanks for taking the time to read, I hope you consider that 5 minutes well spent. If not, well it's not been a significant chunk of time out of your life, unlike the hours you'll spend hooked to this latest FIFA experience. Oh, and yes, I know I didn't mention anything about Ultimate Team and that's for a very good reason; I don't play it and never really want to. I've wasted enough time on this game without getting drawn into a digital card game involving microtransactions as well. Have fun!

it's much more fun and interesting
Spent far too many hours playing this game... I actually kind of wish that they would do away with ultimate team and just make the Jouney a much longer mode. I would in fact, rather by a Journey specific game - and do away with all the other modes entirely if EA were to offer such a thing, it's much more fun and interesting. If they released a Journey mode from youth level, and you have the capabilities to become a world class player, winning world cups and champions leagues after say 30 hours game play or whatever, depending on your training rankings and decisions that would be class. However, Fifa 18 has great graphics, longevity and is throughly enjoying.

One of the fun editions of FIFA.
I will start by saying I am not going to compare this to the other football game available. Both are very good and quite different. However I am more of a FIFA fan having played every version since the original. First and foremost, in the tradition of FIFA, this is one of the 'fun' versions of the game. Pace hasn't been neutered and strength of players does have an impact. Control of the players feels familiar to the last few versions but animations look smoother. Shooting from distance feels better and passing is nice and slick (also opponents are not all tiki-taka like they were in the last version). Defensive play is more challenging but rewarding, I have had a few moments where I have had to clear a goalmouth scramble. Crossing is now a very effective way of scoring goals, perhaps too overpowered but at least now you get numerous 'runners' into the box which feels more realistic. Graphically the game is stunning, I've played on Xbox One and on the 4K PS4 Pro, both look great and undoubtedly this game will be excellent on the Xbox One X when that comes out in November. Players look realistic and there is added 'atmosphere' which is a nice touch, crowds still sing appropriate songs and it all feels very slick. I do not tend to play 'The Journey' so cannot comment. Ultimate Team is still familiar. I play most of my games in career mode though and it is due to this that I have knocked a star off. I find the new interactive negotiations with dialogue wheels to be too slow and breaks up the pacing of the same mode in previous career modes. Also now player sign instantly, none of that waiting on hold until you decide which players to follow through on. For me it is an irritation but maybe in time I will get used to it. Still, this is a fun and very complete FIFA. Well worth buying

Works really great, but there is a 10 or 8 GB download when you install it on the Xbox One X, not sure if the same download happens on the Xbox One S as normally Xbox one X games are a bit larger that regular Xbox one games, they get an extra patch or something like that.. But with that put a side, it works well as expected and the game is Awesome, keeping me away from Forza horizon 4.. โ๐ป๐๐ป
