BLACK DECKER Digital Thermal Leak Detector TLD100

Ordered this & it arrived fast and in perfect order. Went around the up stairs of my house and recorded all the roof temperatures where the wall meets the roof. I set the b&d at 5 degree temperatures difference and as I went around all the rooms it changed color from green ( room temp ) to blue ( loss of room temp by 5 degree ). I recorded all the temperatures and decided to go to roof space and check what was going on.After inspection I seen that the cavity was not closed at the wall plate and the fibre glass insulation wasent covering all the roof in places. So, spent the full day filling cavity with 6 inch fibre glass and making sure that the roof of the bed rooms were all insulated. A real pain in the ass job BUT well worth it the bedrooms are 4-6 degrees warmer and even down stairs is warmer. All for the price of buying 4 rolls of insulation costing 50 Euros. Every house should have one of these and IV just descovered that my front and back door is reading a temperature 13 degrees while the hall and utility where doors are is 22 degree's. This is much more than a leak detector. Indeed it is wrongly labelled. It is basically an extremely accurate thermometer that tests the temperature of surfaces, including glass!! It identified exactly a cold area on my wood floor that I did not realise I had. Now covered with a large rug, the room is now cosy. The old patio doors were much colder than I realised and replacement is expedited. You can survey your entire house and ID hot and warm spots. For best result do it when the outside temperature is very low; with and without wind. I look forward to using it is out garden and house thermometer at all times of the year This may be the best value and quality product I have ever bought. It makes all non-medical/cooking thermometers redundant, especially as it is more accurate and instantaneous in measurement. And it is fun to use... try checking out the surface of your partner. Didn't even know this technology was available so cheaply until I stumbled across it while looking at loft insulation on Amazon. My front bedroom was always freezing even though the rest of the house was nice and warm. I'd assumed the heat was escaping through the attic and had just planned to buy loads of insulation and double up what was already there. Thought I'd try this gun first in case it wasn't the attic and there was a leak around the window or some insulation missing in the exterior wall. Very simple to use (although I had to go out and buy one of those little oblong batteries, didn't even know anything used them anymore and a shame it doesn't come with one). Set the mean temperature and the deviation then slowly move it around the walls and ceiling and watch the torch change colour as it finds cold or hot spots. What I found was that in one corner of my bedroom ceiling there was a point that was 5 degrees lower than anywhere else! Easily rectified and instead of buying 5 rolls of insulation and doing the whole loft, I just bought one and crammed it into that corner. It was right in the eaves so I couldn't see why that part wasn't as well insulated as the rest, but it's done the trick and that corer in the ceiling is only 1 degree lower than the rest now and it's noticeably warmer. So basically, buying this saved me money and time. Only doesn't get full marks because of lack of battery.

I moved into a house which we found to be very cold. The Black & Decker TLD100 Thermal Leak Detector has helped me identify the cold spots in the house and I was able to focus on these areas to eliminate the draughts /install insulation etc. I recorded the temperture difference before and after making any changes to ensure my efforts worked. You carry out the checks yourself so there are no expensive tradesmen to pay. Reasonably cheap and easy to operate. The B&D Leak Detector was bought from Ideabright Ltd. (on Amazon) and was received in the North of Scotland within 48 hours (No, the north of Scotland is not an Island and we should not incurr additional postage charges for being on an island, which we did not from Ideabright Ltd. Thank you for this.) In short; a great little product, fun to use, well worth the money in preventing heat loss or just for checking the surface temperatures of your walls, double glazing, finding draughts from damaged door seals etc.

This is a fairly decent item , it does glow red for surfaces beyond hot treshold point and blue for cold spots and green for ambient temp Positive 9v battery lasts ages robust well made easy to use easy to operate comfortable to hold Good accuracy Negative Accuracy not perfect within couple of degress generally from start point Bulky Price not cheap Very basic Good for indication but not great for accurate problem solving

Does the job. Basically point it at a surface to register a temperature in that room and turn on. Then move light around room and it will show lower or higher temperatures than the one you first you set. For example it shows my loft insulation must be missing in some parts of the ceiling as green light turns blue 🥶 Some surrounding windows are colder than others.. must have a draught. All external walls register colder

This is a great detector, with changing lifestyles a must have home instrument

Muy fácil de usar, apuntar y disparar. Parece fiable, y con mirar el color del foco ya se sabe si la temperatura es inferior o superior, sin tener que mirar la pantalla.
