Box Set: 12 Books Ages: 3 to 5 Stage 1: Starting to Read Many early readers contain words that are too difficult for a child who has just learned the sounds of the alphabet. Not these books! Using only the letters M, A, T and S, children can read their first book. Kids love the stories and funny pictures, and can't wait to read them to everybody they know. This is our bestselling first reader, introduced 35 years ago and used by millions of children. If your child knows the alphabet, Bob Books Set 1 is the book to start them on the path to reading. Inside the box you'll find: 12 easy-to-read books, 12 pages each Consistent sounds. All letters (except Q) introduced gradually in this set. Books with only two and three letter words All words can be 'sounded out' (phonics based) Each book introduces a few new letters Limited sight words 7 to 20 words per book ABOUT BOBS BOOKS Bob Books is America's no.1, award-winning, learning-to-read series trusted for over 40 years. Bob Books is a true first reader series, designed to make helping children learn to read simple and straightforward. The clean layout, short words, and simple phonics make learning to read a fun and natural step for a child that knows the alphabet. Companion workbooks extend children's reading journey by allowing them to practice the skills learned in the books. Bob Books is designed to give young children the tools to cross from learning letters to reading words. The award-winning beginning reader book sets start slowly and progress from books with three letter words, to books with more than one sentence per page. By meeting children at the right level, parents are often amazed at how quickly their child is able to sound out words when reading their first Bob Book . Bob Books covers four reading stages... Pre-Readings Skills Recognize shapes, patterns, and other pre-reading skills Stage 1: Starting to Read From learning the alphabet to sounding out your first words Stage 2: Emerging Readers Sentences become longer and sight words are introduced Stage 3: Developing Readers Words and sentences become longer, and new rules are introduced Review: Great first reading ever books - Had to wait a good month for delivery and even paid the import taxes so not super pleased with the delivery. But the set of little 12 books is brilliant, worth the wait... My first time reader loves them!! He found them super fun. Super easy for a child that just started to read `decoding cvc` way. Review: Excellent for teaching your child to read - My daughter (nearly 4) is very comfortable with her alphabet - largely thanks using to LeapFrog Fridge Phonics for the past year or 2. I bought these books to go the next step, and take advantage of her interest in letters and words. Schools are all using phonics to teach reading these days, so to fit in with what they learn at school, do use a phonics system. They are perfect. 12 very short books based on (book 1) 4 sounds, and adding 2-3 sounds for subsequent books. A few minutes work will finish the book. Make sure your child is reading ready first. A sound knowledge of the alphabet, and an interest in words is important. Ensure that they know the phonic (sound of the word) and not just the letter name. You will need an understanding of phonics yourself - not all of us learned to read this way - and some sense of how to blend the sounds to make a word. A "teach your child to read" book may help you with this. ( Teach Your Child To Read : A Phonic Reading Guide for Parents and Teachers is one resource. I haven't read it personally.) The child is learning a challenging new skill. You will need patience. Make it into a game as far as possible (My wife is better than me at this - racing to see who can get the word first - but daughter usually wins!) and keep it light hearted. It is important that it is fun. I am finding that one read of a book is insufficient. The books are challenging on first view. Book 3 was definitely a struggle, but on revisiting book 1, my daughter read it from end to end with barely any help. The joy on her face when she finished - to appropriate cheers from mum & dad - was a sight to remember! If your child is not ready, put the books away for a few months. Reading skills reap their full reward when it is fun.

Excellent practice reading
My son was a voracious beginner reader and school dont give him enough practice reading so we’ve been buying anything we can. These are fairly cheap and tacky but we’re after quantity not quality. Now he’s developed enough to be reading the doctor Seuss books but these were a great little cheap and cheerful stepping stone to build his confidence and now his little brother can use them while he’s learning too.

A must purchase!!!
I purchased this set back in December for my 4 year old. He’s in reception and absolutely hated reading the books he got from school , it was very dreadful and stressful seeing him frustrated and myself. At that point he was only beginning to learn his phonics . My soon to be 5 year old has now completed the 18 books, mind you I we were not that consistent but manage to finish them. He knows his phonics and has to my knowledge perfect blending of 3-5 letter words with no assistance. His confidence is so much better. If I ask him rather he prefers to write or read a book he chooses to read instead (a good and bad sign I guess) since we now have to spend extra time in the writing dept. My son is also speech delay up to a year and learning to read has also improve in this area , he is not very interested in schooling so it’s tough and the fact that he now knows how to read basic books is a light at the end of the tunnel. I will def be getting all the other advance stages. By the way his teacher has also commented on his great reading progress, he now reads the school books with so much ease.

Good Product
I wish the books had more colour. Otherwise they make sense for a beginner. My daughter was proud of being able to read a whole book so she was encouraged to read more.

Excellent buy quality product
My 4 year old recently had parents evening and his teacher was so impressed with his reading, phonics and blending sounds. I discovered these books through Jady A on YouTube. (Research her you won’t regret it!) combining Jady A’s techniques with these books has got my four year old reading to me! Highly recommend!

Perfect for learning to read
I was given these books as a gift for my younger son who had not shown much interest in reading. He loves these books and they reading helped to spark his love of reading. I have since re-gifted that pack and bought a couple more for other early readers. I always get excellent feedback.

Perfect book set for new readers
These books are great! My son loves them. They gradually get more difficult and the difficultly jump between each book is just right for skill building without them getting too difficult too fast.
