The best feature of these planters is the ability to water my plants from below (the biggest issue I've had with house plants is "root rot" - often resulting in a once healthy plant suddenly covered in a ton of yellowing leaves). Definitely use the rope cuttings supplied. Until your plant's roots start making their way down through the container into the water - when you might want to start thinking about replanting in a bigger container anyway - the rope definitely helps in pulling up moisture. I also think the both the color (emerald-green) and design of the planters are very attractive. I'm using one of the planters on a desk (removed the hook and chain entirely) and another as a hanging planter, and both are working well. My only complaint (and I think another reviewer already mentioned this) is the difficulty you might have in getting water into the well below the container. You're going to have to lift the entire plant out of the planter (unless, as someone else suggested, you drill a hole). This is relatively easy for the planter I have on the desk, but a little more unwieldy for the hanging plant. And, as they both grow bigger and heavier, it might become a bit more of a problem. Still, all-in-all I'm very happy with the planters and would purchase again.

In person it looks more plastic-y than the more glasslike images, but it's also a darker green than the images, which helps (at least imo). I do recommend green over white/gray, since dirt that falls through is less noticeable. It doesn't feel flimsy - it's not extremely thick, but it's enough for small plants. Also, the lightness enables hanging it up from curtain rods without bending them over time. (Mine is the 5.3 inch, so I can't say how the 8.3 would hold up though.) Overall I love it! For me, it's exactly what I was looking for.

First) these are adorable. They are plastic and not as heavy as I thought they would be but they are sturdy enough. Second) don't be like me and forget to check the measurements. These are 6.5 inch planters. Which is fine, which is great- I just had to pad the planters for my plants a little so they could sit inside these without wobbling around. As you can see in the pics my plants will need to grow into these. But I'm fine with that because I literally just very recently got "into" house plants lol Thirdly) the chains are a bit shorter than I thought. We did buy 9" extenders (Pictured on the left 👈 in the pics), so we could stagger them. Lastly, I want to repeat, these are super cute and my pics don't do them justice, they look fantastic against the window with the light behind them but today is stormy so it's hard to see that in the pictures. I can't wait for my plants to grow into these fully. Happy with this buy. Edit: added a new pic today 4/29/2023 as it is a sunny day. You can see how nice they look in the window. My plants have grown into these a bit and they are holding up nicely. I do not use the self watering feature on these as I keep succulents and cacti but it is useful for allowing water to drain which is key to keeping my guys happy. You may have noticed, the plant situation has gotten out of hand here >.< haha. Also the planter hanging in the foreground of the 3rd pic has the 9" extender which I recommend if you want to stagger them or just have them hang closer to eye level. Those come in 2 packs. Still happy with my buy!

Beautiful, self-watering planter. It is plastic but looks like glass hanging from a window. I love the water effect and how easy it is to maintain. Initial instruction on how to get the chain attatched was confussing but I figured it out. Very happy with this product and ordered more!

My philodendrons and pothos love these planters! I either kept forgetting to water my plants or overwater them, and this pot helped me maintain the correct amount of moisture in the soil. I just hung it from my curtain rods in the window and the plants have thrived.

Loved the idea of a low maintenance planter that I could fill with water and not have to worry about for a while. Unfortunately I learned fairly quickly that the water basin at the bottom serves as an ideal environment for fungus to grow, and it wasn’t long after I started using them that I had little mushrooms growing in the bottom of the planter. As long as the water is replaced every couple of days or so you should be good, but I feel like that defeats the purpose of having a “self watering” planter. I was also somewhat disappointed with the size of the planters. They were far smaller than I had pictured them to be. Credit where credit is due though, they do look nice when hung, and are quite durable for being made out of plastic. I don’t outright dislike them, and they’ve definitely grown on me, but the issues I listed are indeed problematic and do count against them as far as I’m concerned.
