Trail of Tears (Step-Into-Reading, Step 5)

Very Well Written and Surprisingly Objective
This was a very informative book and instructive in so many ways. First, right from its inception, the Democratic Party has been the source of so much woe--from forcing the Cherokees off their lands, to slavery, to Jim Crow laws, to the present moment.Second, in the government's forcible confiscation of Cherokee weapons, we see exactly why Democrats wish to infringe upon citizens' Second Amendment rights. It's never for safety or for anyone's protection, it's to make sure law-abiding citizens have no way of fighting unjust, unconstitutional laws.Third, rather than embrace victimhood and seek reparations--which, of course, the Cherokees would be perfectly justified in demanding from Democrats--the Cherokees have embraced a fighting spirit that seeks to thrive and flourish despite adversity. My three children learned so much from this book.Thank you, Joseph Bruchac!

A great learning storybook
Many good information within this book. If a child ( or anyone) needed to write a paper this book has much of the information you need. Written in semi story firm so not boring with lots of dates and facts listed although it does give you the dates snd facts. Great book

Good brief summary story
Husband bought this book for my 9 year old daughter as it is recommended for 7-9 year olds. It is not really geared toward 7-9 year olds. The verbage and word usage as well as the Indian names used were somewhat advanced. My 10-year-old did well with it though. We wished it had been clearer about the Treaty of New Echota and the role it played on the removal of the Cherokee.

Good buy
Well written piece of history. My 9-y/o grandson is reading. Good price. It did come with a torn front cover. Not bad enough to return, but still damaged. I recommend for anyone wanting to know more of this usually forgotten part of US history.

Least we Forget
Part of our family heritage so it was really interesting for our young reader. He is very aware of social issues so this really met his interests.

A great way to increase knowledge of history.
These step into reading books are a wonderful mix of history in a fun story. I have several and let my 8 year old grandson pick the next one he wants. He has learned so much history by reading these. He thought this one was very sad, but liked it.

fantastic
We are a homeschool family studying the Trail of Tears for a couple weeks, and chose to include this book in our reading. My children wish to review it as follows,2nd grader: I think it's the second best book I've ever read (after the Bible).5th grader: I just felt something stirring inside of me. I know I'm part Cherokee, and I am enjoying learning about my ancestors and all they went through so I could live now. It was a really great book.

Great book for kids
My 7 almost 8 year old, to my surprise, loves learning about history and social studies at school. He came home and asked if we could find a book he could read about the Trail of Tears. This one fit the bill great for him based on reading skill Level and appropriate material.

わからない単語が多かった
旅が大変だったことはわかったが、単語が難しくて内容があんまりよくわからなかった。クロッキーのことを初めて知れたのはよかった。アメリカにはインディアン以外の原住民もいたんだなーと思った。
