I bought this for iPhone 6. It came with a waterproof adhesive seal, which is not a component of iPhone 6. Whats that about?

I suppose you are referring to the adhesive backing the pack carries.This is what you use to stick this to the inside of your phone. Before pealing off the protective backing work out the correct positioning, ie the terminals and the battery to be able to connect easily 😊

What is the guarantee, if any, on the 5000 mAh battey for an iphone 8 plus?

I doubt if there is a guarantee as it can be subject to how it is used? They say you should always let a battery run down properly to say 10% before charging again as this gives it longer life than constantly topping it up. Mine been going well for months now. Very happy with it so far.
