It's still sharp and punchy with chilli, but yes it does have auch sweeter taste compared to other kimchi. I like it so much that I've been putting a spoonful of sugar into other kimchi I purchase to try and match the taste of this one. What I would say as a negative, is that you do get the odd jar of this stuff that just doesn't taste quite right, and not like the normal recipe. Not many, we're talking maybe 1 in 5 or 6 jars. I've only tried a handful of other kimchi, and the flavour is much more stable across different jars than this one.
