Canon SELPHY CP1500 Compact Photo Printer White

I was really pleasantly surprised with this portable photo printer. Pro: Practically plug and play. Setup is easy and connected to my iPhone on the first try. If you plan to print directly from your iPhone, download the SELPHY app for easy photo layout. The app is also very easy to use and makes layouts for photos easy to setup. Easy to upload photos from phone to app and to print. Prints individual photos very quickly as well. Since this is not an inkjet, you can touch the output immediately without smearing the front. Option for glossy, semi matte or matte photo finishes. There is a decent selection of cute graphics and stamps to add to your photo outputs. Con: The photo output tends to have an overexposed, washed out look for daytime photos. Nighttime or darker background photos tend to look more vibrant. The printer itself is small but surprisingly heavy (solidly built). Frankly, for the price. I’m super happy with the product. If you’re looking for pro quality prints or something to display at home, still print on laserjet or inkjet printer or send it out to be printed professionally. But for a quick print and casual use. This is perfect! Love it.

The all-in-one ink and paper cartridges are also a brilliant design, making refills clean and simple. A crucial detail to be aware of is that this is a dye-sublimation printer, which means you must use Canon's combined ink and paper packages, standard supplies will not work. This technology creates the photo in multiple passes, laying down each color individually. This is the same process used for professional photo printing and is the secret to its "lab-quality" results, which is why the ink and paper are always sold together as a matched set. To get a perfect print, you have to bring up (brighten) the shadows in your photo editing app before sending it to the printer. It’s a quick adjustment that makes a world of difference. Also, because the paper moves in and out during the printing process, it's best to use it in a clean, dust-free area to avoid any specks on your final print. The cost per print is very reasonable, especially with the bulk paper/ink packs, making it an excellent value. This is a surprisingly capable little printer that scratches that instant-photo itch while keeping things modern and connected. From a communications tech standpoint, I really appreciate how smooth the wireless setup is on the Canon Selphy CP1500 ... it connects easily via Wi-Fi or the app, and the interface feels a lot less clunky than some older Selphy models. Print quality is solid for its size: colors are vibrant, details are sharp enough, and the dye-sub process gives photos a nice, durable finish that resists smudges and water. It’s not going to replace a pro photo printer, but for quick 4x6 prints straight from your phone or camera, it’s awesome. The only downside is the consumable cost (the ink/paper packs aren’t cheap) but the convenience and quality make it worth it if you love having tangible prints in seconds

Highly recommend. Bought this as part of a Christmas gift for my kids to use with their digital cameras and I have found myself printing more on it than anything. Pictures come out in great quality, easy to use/set up, convenient sizing options too! The initial set only came with about four printer papers and ink but I quickly ordered the 100 ct refill

I have wanted a photo printer for a long time, and I love this little thing. The price was okay, until I I started buying all the accessories and then it got crazy. The prints look nice, and it is fun to watch it print by color. The setup with my phone and the app and my laptop was a pain- it took multiple attempts but I think I have it figured out now. I don't like that it is advertised to print stickers and labels and all that but needs a separate print tray to do so- which I only found out through reviews and the tray took weeks to find. The options are nice, I just wish it was a package deal. The photos are nice though. I am enjoying it. Update : I am now noticing a line down the side of the photos I print. I am also having a hard time getting the alignment right as the printer tends to crop the edges, especially if I print multiple smaller pictures on one sheet using the app. I also cannot print through the app anymore because I set it up with my laptop as well as my phone to go over our wifi, so I have to send it to print, and make sure the right printer is selected. Update 2: I have now tried using all the accessories and am very disappointed. I bought the separate paper tray for the smaller card sized label papers. The card size sticker paper worked ok ( I only used it once) but when I tried the smaller label stickers (with 8 stickers on the card size paper) it jammed in the printer. The only instruction from the printer was to turn it off and on again to clear the jam, which did not do anything. I had to manually pull the paper and folded up stickers out with tweezers which took about a half hour. The printer doesn't come apart so I just had to pull the ripped pieces out individually. Fortunately when I switched back to the standard paper it still worked. Probably best to only use the items that come with this printer and its replacements. I was excited about the sticker paper for my kid's artwork, so that is disappointing.

I've recently purchased the Canon SELPHY CP-1500 and the print quality is amazing! One of the best printers works great and fast to print! I love having it to make scrapbooks.

I've been really happy with this compact photo printer. I was using an Instax printer for years prior but was wanting something that printed photos that were a bit bigger. I thought about getting the larger format instax printer but honestly the price of the instax prints and lack of updated ports (use of micro USB) made this very off putting for me. I ended up picking up the Canon Selphy and I'm so happy I did! While it's definitely not as compact as the instax set ups, it's still something you can pack away for a trip if you want it with you, particularly if you're going over seas and have a check in luggage. I used this to make prints for relatives while I was in Asia and it was a big hit. The photos out of this are quite excellent when you consider how quick the print. Within a 30 seconds or so you have a high quality 4x6 print in your hand.The price per print is not bad at all when you buy in bulk. It really makes a big difference taking your photos from a phone screen to printed on a physical medium. Honestly something every photographer should have. 100% would recommend!

I love this product. The Canon CP1500 gets the job done and is very easy to set up and use. The colors are rich, though not always perfect, sometimes they come out a bit too dark or too light depending on the photo. I’d give the color quality a solid 9/10. That said, it’s still a great photo printer. I just wish it were a bit more affordable. Overall, it’s a fantastic choice, and I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.
