Great if you have a very small apartment (like I do!)
Got this today and LOVED this today! I live in a three ROOM apartment with three medium sized area rugs. I also have 5 BIRDS and 1 cat...yeah it's a little crowded but hey - I love my pets. I needed a lightweight cordless vacuum that could double as a stick vac AND a hand held. Then BOOM - this device happened in my life! The suction is sufficient for my needs / cat hair and bird seed on the floor. Don't expect it to do a whole house of course / the charge life is about 15-20 minutes and that's all I need. I like this model over the others because it does stand up on it's own I don't have to break it all down to store it. DON'T get an expensive color like I did though (green) that's not worth doing / it's barely green and gray (much less expensive) would have been cheaper and work just as well (BIG TIP). If you NEED rose gold to blend into your decor go for it / and the navy blue is calming and nice - but if you just need it to WORK go for the gray...color isn't everything and the green was slightly disappointing being almost a grayish green anyway - my only regret though! I LOVE this machine. I can use the hand vac to quickly vacuum the birdcage then quickly switch it up and vacuum the whole apartment in under 10 minutes / way under. Stack it all up and it charges up again in an hour or two or so-ish. Easy lights on the front let you know when it's charge/how much charge it has. I'm familiar with the press to run but push the other button forward to empty routine / don't mistake one for the other - it's easy once you learn how. SO glad I got it for my SMALL home and FEW area rugs. I like that it all comes apart and I can customize it in certain ways. I didn't know I'd like it this much...but I do. NO ONE asked me or paid me for this review. I'm a real person to btw. :) It's not VERY quiet but it's not super loud...I think the Shark design team listened to customers and really did well with this model. :) If you need TONS of suction - whisper quiet and long run times this is NOT for you. BUT if you have simple spills of dry goods/things/hair etc and you live in a SMALLER place - and don't need it to be SUPER quiet / want cordless and convenience and choices re: accessories - this stand up and charge by itself vac is perfect for you. I'm 5'4" and it's long enough for me to handle comfortably with one arm/no slouching. That's it for now. Hope this helped.

Lightweight But Horrible in Any Other Way
I got this for my 625 sq. ft apartment. Carpet is only on about half that (bedroom and tiny hallway) and is a low pile. From the getgo, I was disappointed in it. It would only pick up about half of the hair on my carpet, and the so-called "no hair wrap" fins were getting overloaded. I thought that it was just because my carpet was already a mess so I just needed to give the vacuum time to get through all of the layers, since it's not meant for deep cleaning. But it wouldn't even pick up debris from my tile floors. I would vacuum and then have to sweep after it to get the stuff it wouldn't suck up. Hair, crumbs, little paper bits, things that should've been in the vacuum's wheelhouse but weren't.When the vacuum does suck up something, the hose to the dust bin is so small that most things can't fit in it. Popcorn gets stuck and has to be fished out with a snake tool. I have never experienced a vacuum that was so picky and finicky about what it can or can't actually pick up and dispose of.The self-emptying emptying system is also worthless. It is loud when it empties into the charging base, but it doesn't actually empty. It gets stuck halfway between the vacuum and the charging base, so that when you pick up the vacuum the next time, it dumps everything back onto the floor. The entry point for the debris is even more finicky about what it does and doesn't accept than the hose size of the vacuum. Manually emptying out the vacuum and turning off the self-emptying feature is just easier and saves yourself from a lot of headache.A day or two after I started to use it, the vacuum started to make noises like it was clogged. But I couldn't find anything lodged or any reason what would be causing it. This was just regular vacuuming on carpet for hair. It sounded quiet right out of the box, but then the sound changed. When it's actually clogged (which happens a lot), it'll make a high-pitched squealing/whistling noise before turning itself off.The fact that it can be taken apart and made into a hand vacuum is handy. But it means nothing since the vacuum doesn't actually function. I tried to use it to vacuum out my car and the mats, but it left half the stuff behind. I'm pretty sure giving the mats a thorough shake did more good than the vacuum did. I had to basically press the brush (and then the bare vacuum tube when I got frustrated by the brush) right on top of the crumbs for it to do anything.Speaking of the brush and what I am assuming is a corner/edge tool, there's literally nowhere to put one of them. The charging base only has a slot for one, and then I have the other one free to the side of the slot. Every time I move the vacuum, the free-floating attachment falls off the base. I guess they assume one will just be permanently attached to the vacuum, even though the vacuum can't be fully re-assembled with one of them in?Taking the vacuum apart to transition from vacuum to hand vacuum and back again goes smoothly. None of the buttons have gotten stuck on me or anything, though they can be a bit...fun to remember where they are each time. And the vacuum can't stand freely when put altogether. The head can stand on its own, but not when the battery and handle compartment are attached. I don't know if this is common with wireless vacuums, but it is surprisingly annoying to deal with. If you have to shimmy a piece of furniture out of the way, you have to account for the fact that your vacuum might not get a good grip on the thing you leaned it on and it'll fall to the floor. The final nail in the vacuum's coffin was when I tried to clean my mattress by sprinkling baking soda on it and letting it sit for most of the day. I tried to vacuum it, and my vacuum just up and died. Somehow it must've gotten into an important bit of the vacuum, despite me using it normally, and now my vacuum is perpetually acting like it's clogged. The charging base takes as much real estate as a regular upright vacuum does, so you save no space when getting this one. And it takes up an outlet essentially 24/7 which a regular vacuum doesn't.The only two good points in this vacuum is that it is lightweight, feels like nothing when you carry it or when you are using it, and that the transitioning is effortless. You can't do anything once you get to where you need to vacuum and turn it into a hand vacuum, but the process goes great nonetheless.I don't think this vacuum is worth trying to get it fixed. Already have a new one in my cart for my next paycheck. Do yourself a favor and buy whatever other vacuum you are looking at. This one ain't it. I did all of the research and knew it was going to be best for smaller spaces and thought it was the one. But it wasn't.

Excellent Vacum Cleaner
Very happy with this purchase. Have a dog, and is good with the hair. Like that it is a hand vac also. I have had two Dysons and this is far better. Works well on hard surface and carpeting. It is lightweight and I like that it stands by itself when in charger/storage. It leans easily otherwise. Dysons I had to lay on the floor which was a pain. The storage is not that large but it easily dispenses. I recommend this unit.
