Waykar 80 Pints 5000 Sq. Ft 2025 Energy Star Dehumidifier for Basement

I’m very impressed with this Waykar dehumidifier. It does a great job removing moisture from the basement, and I noticed a difference in the air quality and overall comfort pretty quickly. It’s easy to set up and use, the controls are straightforward, and it runs fairly quietly considering how powerful it is. The customer service was excellent as well—friendly, responsive, and helpful. The build quality feels solid, and I really appreciate the large capacity and convenient features. It has been reliable so far and keeps the basement feeling much drier and more comfortable. Overall, it’s a great dehumidifier for the price, and with the excellent service, I would definitely recommend it.

I’ve been happy with this Waykar dehumidifier overall. It was easy to set up and simple to use, and the unit was light enough that I could move it down to my basement by myself. I liked that it was easy to move around when needed, and it didn’t take up too much space. When it was working, it did a great job keeping the humidity under control. I’m dehumidifying my basement after water intrusion through my basement floor. Following a freak spring snow / rain storm northern Michigan style. Arrived quickly. It was a box inside a bigger box. The inside box said “this side up”. However hidden in a bigger box it arrived on its side. So I had to let it sit upright for a day to let the fluids settle. Glad I caught that need so as to not damage the unit. The price was good as an open package deal. Plugged it in fired it up seems to work well nice looking reasonably quiet unit. Not as big or heavy as my older unit. The drain hose for continuous operation is very chinsy but works. Seat it well and no leaks. A cheap short garden hose attachment would be a nice touch but I could do that cutting up an old hose. Only relative negative is the humidity readout. I’ve got a cheap hydrometer and my old dehumidifier both read low 50% range but this new unit is stuck about 65%. So don’t trust that reading until you pick up a cheap hydrometer ($10) to verify. Only fix for that is set your humidity target high to compensate. My actual target is 45% so I set the unit at 60% which should get me close. In my case if I didn’t do that and set the unit at a 45% target it would run a long time and be probably at 35% real humidity and that’s not what I want. So pay attention to your humidity setting and the readout versus what you really have. And have a box fan running to circulate your air. Good deal. UPDATE: unit seems to have fought hard to get down to 55% so I set the target to 50% see how it goes. My old 50 pint machine got down to 50% fairly easy. I have that and this new 120 pint machine running in opposing corners of my unfinished basement.

I’ve been happy with this Waykar dehumidifier overall. It worked great right out of the box and did a good job keeping the humidity down in my basement. The difference was noticeable, especially with that damp, stuffy feeling. It’s also pretty quiet and seemed to run efficiently. After about 9 months, I noticed the humidity level in the basement was consistently too high, though it seemed like the unit was still running. I contacted Waykar customer service and have been very impressed with their quick response and support. They approved a replacement under the warranty and made the whole process painless. Obviously, it’s never ideal when something stops working after less than a year, but I am very happy with how Waykar handled it. They stood behind their product and took care of the problem without giving me a hard time. Based on my experience, I’d definitely recommend the dehumidifier and would buy from Waykar again.

I bought this Waykar 80-Pint Dehumidifier for my basement, and the difference within 24 hours was incredible. It dropped the humidity from 75% to a comfortable 45%. I was so happy to see that musty smell went away for good. I also do woodworking projects in the basement and humidity control is very important to me. This dehumidifier is very easy to use. The digital display is very intuitive, letting you dial in your target humidity level very easily. Also, it is very quiet and it has swivel casters that make movement effortless. I use it with continuous drainage as well with the supplied hose straight into a floor drain. That way, I don't need to empty the container periodically. I am very happy with this purchase and recommend it 100%.

I'm very satisfied with my two 80 pint Waykar dehumidifiers, ordered from Amazon at the same time, These were delivered to my Virginia home in shipping boxes designed to protect the units. I appreciate Waykar's forethought in packaging. I experienced product damage due to other companies failing to pack and ship products properly, never fun. The Waykar features listed are exactly what I needed to control humidity in my Virginia home. I placed one unit upstairs with a full bath, bedroom and entertainment room. After starting the unit the humidity dropped quickly to my desired setting. Currently at 43%. This allowed me to increase the air conditioning setting to 78 degrees. The space is now very comfortable and I now save money with the higher air conditioning setting. The other unit is on my main floor, 3 bedrooms, livingroom, kitchen, den, dinning room the 3 bathrooms. Centrally located in the space, the humidity significantly dropped. Current humidity is 48% with temperature 76 degrees. Everyone being different, my point is Waykar humidifiers are well designed, easy to adjust to a customer's desired settings. I also like the appearance of the unit and it runs very quite. Customer service is also a very positive value, before and after the sale. I encourage you to do your research, I believe you will be happy what you find. I must quickly mention I have been a Waykar customer since 2024. My Wisconsin home has three units selected for features best suited to effectively control humidity. I have had other dehumidifiers in the past from other companies that were offered at an attractive price point but failed to be the quality Waykar offers.

Absolutely amazing. I run a dog sitting business and converted a shed in the backyard. It was so humid that the air unit was growing mold and had to be deeply cleaned out every week. I have had this dehumidifier running since Sunday evening 9/6/26 and it has dropped the humidity from a max of 80%+ to 39% OR LESS. The air quality is much better and cooler. I have it set up to drain with the hose into a 5 gallon bucket from Home Depot and within 2-2.5 days it’s over halfway full. I bought the 120 pint model. May have been more than I needed, but I needed one that was big and powerful. Definitely worth the money and peace of mind that the air in there is pure and healthy. I’m attaching a screenshot of the humidity tracker. You can see the huge decrease in humidity. I’m very happy with this purchase. And it comes with a 2 year warranty that they email you about a few days after delivery.

The GOOD and Bad We have been using this every day since we received it, which was probably within two weeks or so of purchase date in February 2025. For almost the entirety of having this unit we have had it placed in our 1/2 unfinished, daylight basement [lots of thermal mass which means moisture concern], with plenty of open vents to upstairs. The unit used to keep the lower level close to 30%, even registering 28% or so before shutting off briefly. The upstairs, which we keep an eye on with a couple different humidity readers, would be maybe mid 30's when the lower level would be at this point. High or low humidity levels outside never mattered—we have been quite comfortable, which is nice with humid spring and summer months. We have been quite happy with the unit until recently. More recently, perhaps the past few months, it only would register as low as high 30's downstairs, again, continuous running into a drain that is set for good gravity feed from the unit. It literally will now not shut off unless I do this—it used to automatically shut off on occasion for some time [27-28 relative humidity] until humidity rose. It would be close enough to ‘set it and forget it’ with only minimal observation for responsible ownership. A few weeks ago we would see largely low 40's downstairs. Then it went to 52%. Finally, it stopped collecting moisture at all. The gradual to sudden loss of moisture removal power spanned a short time with nothing I could figure as to external changes in its environment or care. The efficiency of this unit got to be quite bad. And the air filter has been kept clean continuously. We even have cleaned out the gunk from the outlet periodically with success. The latter is important, as we have found, for ANY dehumidifier in order to prevent leaks, which was never a problem, really, for this unit. The GOOD One of my excerpts from reaching out to Waykar: “We have not even had this unit for two years, and I do expect it to run optimally as it once did or at least close enough to it. The more recent declines are factoring in any sort of humidity externally. The unit has always kept our home much better than where we are now. Please help.” Waykar responded and some questions were asked, and information and pictures from yours truly provided. The questions asked made sense, and the information I provided resulted with the decision made to replace for free the unit we have heretofore been quite happy with overall. I am to send back, postage paid for by Waykar, the deemed defective product, which to me means quality control efforts are real, figuring out more certainly how an issue in production could have caused this. Regardless, standing by your product means a lot to me. Viability of the product is well near the only problem I have had with it, and this offer seals the deal to a good review. In short, we have used this dehumidifier to keep quite low humidity levels as a whole house solution, and it has worked very well. A daylight basement in periods of high humidity and heat requires something powerful. If you run into an issue outside of your control though, like me, you will likely have recourse. I am outside of the warranty period, yet the company and its representatives work hard to make sure I am pleased. I believe, though, if you register your product that it doubles or something, and so do what I did not: fill it out. No matter what you buy, things happen in manufacturing, shipping, etc., and so a manufacturer doing something like this means that they really wish to please. My one strong suggestion though is this: more companies should make easier access to some internals...on the last day of trying to make this right after reaching out to Waykar, I removed enough of the plastic molding to be able to vacuum out any dust and debris...and there was a good amount that got past the filter that we always kept cleaned. We are good with preventative maintenance on most things...those measures, though, do little to how some particles get into deep recesses of anything like this that moves air...I would suggest manufacturing easier removed molding pieces to conduct these deeper cleans. I don’t know that this has anything to do at all with the unit having failed, but it surely would not hurt. Also, placement of the unit and some other things DO AFFECT how well it works. For whatever it is worth, when opening windows and doors at night during certain seasons and conditions, one, from what I found in searching such matters, would be better off shutting of the dehumidifier due to allergens possibly being collected etc. These such things and more could be communicated by manufacturers as well as any retailers so that product could be better utilized. I always shut the unit off when filling our wood stove, for example. Learn to take care of what you own.

We purchased this Waykar dehumidifier in August 2024 for our basement. We decided to buy this model because we specifically liked the relatively small footprint and the option to regulate the noise level. Because we do not have a hose routed towards the outside, it is very convenient that the unit automatically shuts off and also indicates when to change the water basket. Since we bought it, the dehumidifier has done a great job keeping the humidity low and the climate in the basement very comfortable. Unfortunately, after 22 months of reliable service, the unit started to ice over and no longer works. This was disappointing, because we really liked this particular brand and model. However, the Waykar customer service has been extremely responsive and helpful. They answered my email the very next day, and after verifying that a repair wasn't feasible, offered to send a replacement at no cost. It is clear that Waykar stands behind their products and value their customers. We are currently waiting for the replacement and I will provide an update once we receive it.

Produto realmente tira umidade do ar, mas está vazando na parte de baixo. Toda vez tenho que secar o chão ou deixar ele em cima de uma toalha. O medidor de humidade funciona, mas não serve pra controlar o aparelho a manter uma umidade escolhida. Toda vez que aparelho chega na umidade desejada, ele desliga e medidoe de umidade dispara pra cima... e aparelho, logo em seguida, volta a ligar. Parece que ele mede umidade do interior dele e não do ambiente, medindo a umidade do fluxo que ele gera.
