Review: Sena 50R – DOA unit - I purchased the Sena 50R brand new. The unit charged normally and showed a solid blue light while connected to the charger, however it would not power on at all once unplugged. I tried: Charging for over 3 hours Multiple power-button reset attempts Unplug / replug sequences There was no sound, no LED, no response when running on battery. The unit only showed life when connected to external power. This appears to be a DOA (dead on arrival) battery or power management fault, which is disappointing for a premium-priced product. Setup and mounting were done correctly, and this was confirmed through troubleshooting. I am now returning the unit for replacement/refund. Hoping the next unit (or a different model) is more reliable.

Some of the other functions I need to preform, like answering/making call, playing music, turning the volume up/down can be done from the bike (BMW R1250RS). Unit is not easily transferable to another helmet that has mic and speakers installed from an accessory kit. Speakers and mic need to be disconnected from within the helmet, which means removing the lining to get to the connections. Unlike the Sena 50S which can be installed using a cradle, making the unit easy to transfer between helmets with the accessory kit. Don’t believe the distance the units can communicate over claimed by Sena in the real world. Maybe in a flat open desert. I have been able to communicate with another Sena unit when out of sight, being over a hill and around a corner. Getting commands to execute via voice starting with “Hey Sena” can be tricky. This appears to be a common issue across the Sena range.

A: There is the Sena +Mesh unit that connects via bluetooth with Sena non-mesh units and connects with the 50-R perfectly and easyly through the intermcon feature.

ottimo prodotto, ha una buona acustica, frazie agli auricolari harman kardon, ha la possibilità di utilizzare la rotella sul manubrio delle moto BMW per regolare il volume. Ancora da provare il collegamento tra interfoni per valutare la portata effettiva.
