Worked great for expanding my SFF Ncase M1 build to have an extra PCI-e card!
Very stoked about this! I built a custom PC in an Ncase M1 V5 about a year and a half ago. i7 8700k OC'ed to 5.0ghz, 32gb of OC'ed RAM, 1080ti SC2 from EVGA, Samsung 960 Pro 1TB m.2 NVME SSD, and it ran awesome!I primarily used it as a music performance machine for running all my .vst synths at insane resolution with tons of polyphony. It ran all my music software awesome with a usb audio interface.Secondarily, it was used as a gaming monster which was very fun with the fast CPU and insane 1080ti GPU. I loved it.My main music studio computer was a Mac and it is finally crapping out.... I couldn't bounce mixes without glitches anymore. All my $3,000-worth of audio interface and external DSP cards for audio mixes are all Firewire-based gear from Universal Audio, the audio interface is a Firewire Apollo. So I was stuck with no way to run all my gear on my Mac anymore and a blazing fast PC that had no firewire ports...Did not want to give up GPU performance and also did not want to give up the small form factor of the NCase M1 ITX case, so I bought a Sonnet Allegro Firewire card, this m.2 to PCI-e adapter, and some PCI-e ribbon extension riser cables.Spent today figuring out how to absolutely cram all this in there! I had to remove one of the two fans I had bringing air in through the bottom of the case (who knows how much those were doing anyway), but it all friggin' worked! Thankfully there is an extra slot on the Asus ROG Strix z270-ITX motherboard for an m.2 SSD on the bottom of the board, so I just moved the SSD down there from the top slot. The peripheral power cable and ribbon routing was a real mind bender but it all fit and it all works. So for those who do not want to give up the beautiful SFF of the Ncase M1 but still want to add an extra PCI-e card to their computers for whatever other purpose, which in my case was legacy peripheral connection additions via Firewire, you can do it through the m.2 slot on the top of the board using this adapter! I researched this for a long time before I did it but I still couldn't believe it when it all worked.Thank you!

Works but has significant design flaws that limit usability
The device itself works as intended; however, there are some major design flaws for any use cases besides using an additional PCIE riser. The device really should be used in 2260 not a 2280 slot as the perforated edge to break off the end 20mm causes the board to become extremely flexible and fragile if you don't mount them using the 2260 mounting hole - why bother adding the extra 2280 mounting if it makes the device very fragile. This is a minor issue as you can still mount it using the 2260 mount point in most cases.PCIE 4x slot is too far towards the top of the board, this makes it unusable in all x399 boards as it interferes with the PCIE slot above it. When inserted into boards like these that have m.2 slots between the PCIE slots using this adapter to add another device will interfere with most devices in the slot right above it. What happens is that full size single slot single width cards (like slim GPUs and server grade NICs) typically fill the entire space allocated to them; however, due to the placement of the 4x slot on this device any card inserted into this device will actually be placed inside the space for the slot above it make it impossible to insert 2 single slot devices with this adapter. The device seems to work well; however, it's design prohibits it from being used in anything besides mining setups that use additional PCIE risers. Such a simple thing to fix too, just moving the PCIE slot itself down just a tiny bit would allow many more use cases and there is plenty of space on the adapter to rearrange components such that these other uses would work too.Bottom line: Good for mining use, but if you are trying to better utilize an m.2 slot located between existing PCIE slots (as is the case in all x399 boards) then this card will not work for you.

it does what it says
it works. using it on a motherboard to have another pcie slot for gpu mining rig build.works fine with a rx580 connected to it.only problem i see is that the adapter for it, is molex. really flimsy basic molex. it wouldnt even fit into the psu molex connector that well, just barely enough for it to power up. if they changed this to a 6pin pcie connector cable. this would honestly be perfect. just a shame they skimped out on this part.other than the molex part, it does what its suppose to do. comes with a small screwdriver for the m.2 screw.

Item works as advertised so far
This item does exactly what it is advertised to do. I was able to add a USB 3.0 PCIE card to my mITX motherboard using an empty M.2 port. I have yet to test it’s durability but so far it works fine for my use.The item comes in a plain brown box with two of everything inside a individual zip lock pouch.I took off one star since the item isn’t 100% accurate to the photo. The PCIE slot is not opened notch as shown so it will only work with a PCIE x1 or PCIE x4 card unless you snip it yourself.

Good working and not cheap
Set in a bad with a lot of other compdents have used 3 times now and has not seen an damages in transport and works like it says.

Does the job
Does the job but you can get cheaper ones. If it doesn't work, you have to go into your device manager and show hidden devices. You need to uninstall the hidden devices and restart in order for the GPU to be functional. It's a pain and if I had to redo it all over again, I would just get a mobo that has the pcie slots instead of the M.2. It looks nice and clean due to the white board. It also has an LED that lights up but you cannot turn it off. It comes with a power cable, but it is not needed to function.

These two work perfectly on an ASUS Z270-P
Great Product - Does exactly what it says it will do.Cons - Really bright LED indicator lights, and the power header plastic broke when I had to disconnect it from one of these boards. So only plug in the power adapter one time and don't touch it again. All that said, broken plastic doesn't matter when the product still works. Not a legitimate issue when you think about the big picture. They both have expansion boards plugged into them, all works flawlessly on EthOS
