Write for Life: A Toolkit for Writers from the author of multimill

Sehr schade. Gerade wegen der Haptik kauft man doch Bücher!

So Helpful!
This book is a complete tonic for writers. It helped me through a very difficult patch following the death of my mother and helped me to rediscover my creativity, after fearing it was lost. Therapy in a book, gentle, supportive and just right to nurture the soul, spirit and creativity. Can’t rate highly enough, so thank you Julia Cameron x

Yes the little things matter!
Disclaimer: I haven’t opened the book yet (but also not interested in deliberately tanking a rating) - for this review I don’t need to open it. I’d had the two other matching books on my “to buy” list for awhile now and when I saw this would be released, that was the push I needed. The consistency in the design, size and format is always something I greatly appreciate. EXCEPT… the two other books have a matte toothy finish, very pleasant, but this new release is a smooth glossy. A bit of a let down when I was excited for the “set.”

Very dIsappointed
I have used Julia Cameron's other books to advantage and thought that this would have something new to add but it doesn't. If you've worked through The Artists Way and the accompanying wokbook, The Morning Pages and The Vein of Gold you won't find much that is new. I also disagree with the advice which is to hold back, limit yourself to two pages of your writing project per day. I find that when an idea strikes I want to write, want it all down on paper before I forget, want to let the words run away with me and take me to places I hadn't thought of. I can literaaally write for hours so why limit myself to two pages? I think this is counterproductive. The book is very generously laid out - wide margins and blank spaces. The whole thing could have been pressented, to advantage, in a smaller, easier to handle and more portable format. I can't find words to describe the section on rhyming which gives examples of some really trite little verses which surely wouldn't have beeen printed anywhere else.

A great book to guide in writing
I have this author's other book (The Artist's Way) and have found it meaningful and helpful so I decided to buy this one and see how it could help me in my writing journey. I'm happy that I did because it helped me not be so hard on myself. It's made me relax a little more in writing my second novel. There is still a lot to do but it's a start. I'd definitely recommend to all writers of all genres. This book will guide through those times when you feel hesitant or unsure. Highly recommend.
