Solid Racks That Get the Job Done
I was a little skeptical when ordering these since the price was lower than some of the name brands, but honestly, they’ve exceeded my expectations. Installation was straightforward, and everything needed came in the box—including the tie-down straps and ratchets. The racks themselves feel sturdy and well-made. Once mounted on our crossbars, they held our kayaks securely during a long drive without any shifting or wobbling. The padding on the bars is a nice touch and keeps the kayak from getting scratched or dented. The included straps were also surprisingly decent quality—I didn’t feel the need to replace them right away like I usually do with bundled gear. We've now used them a handful of times for local trips and a longer road trip, and they’ve held up really well. The kayaks sit snugly, and we’ve had no issues with slippage or damage. If you’re looking for a reliable set of J-bars without spending a fortune, these are a great choice. Easy to install, solid on the road, and they do exactly what you need them to do.

Good price for a good product
Worked great. Pretty easy to put on. Directions were not that good, but the product is.

Good racks, difficult installation
My wife and I recently came into possession of some kayaks that a family member was getting rid of. I had wanted some kayak racks that were fairly cheap but sturdy and were able to be mounted on a cross bar on my wife's SUV. These came in pieces in the box and were fairly easy to install and put together. However when it came to installing these on the cross bar, it was very annoying to put together. The hand nuts were very obnoxious to tighten down while holding the kayak racks in place. Initially, I had to tighten them all a little bit and then slide the rack into place. My hands became very tired quickly after just installing the first one... It took me roughly an hour to install all 4 of the kayak racks on the crossbar. I think later on I will replace the handnuts with something more substantial and easier to remove with a tool. All in all the whole thing was held together and served its purpose when we went to retrieve the kayaks. The straps that come with it are worthless though, won't tighten for anything, so get yourself some self ratcheting straps.

Good Deal on this Kayak Rack
This is a well made, nicely finished and priced Kayak Rack kit. As configured out of the box, it may not work for thicker height crossbars on some truck racks because the 8mm carriage bolts supplied are too short (about 2-1/2 inches). I retro fitted mine with 5/16-18, 4 inch long carriage bolts (3-1/2 length would have worked too) to fit the crossbar (approx. 1-3/4 H, 2-3/4 W) on my Vevor branded adjustable height truck rack, which is thicker 'height-wise' than most car rooftop crossbars. The 8mm nuts inside the plastic T-handle wings can be pressed out and replaced with 5/16-18 nuts if you want to reuse them. 5/16-18 nuts are typically 1/2 inch across the flats and might be a little loose inside the T-wings, the 8mm nuts being a little wider across the flats, but a little silicon or glue should secure them. As a sidetone, I could not find any 8 mm carriage bolts locally that were long enough, thus the change. In summary, the ratcheting hook straps supplied work great and the other pull straps included make this a nicely supplied kit.

Great!
These racks worked very well! Easy but tedious construction. However installing onto the vehicle was easy and no damage done to the vehicle. Held down the kayaks well and didn’t budge an inch on the freeway at >70mph. With wind. I didn’t use the straps however that came with these so not sure about those. Overall for the function, stability and appearance, great product! Vehicle is a ‘23 RAV4 for reference.

Spend your money elsewhere.
Do not buy this product if you care about your vehicle, kayak or others safety. I purchased this rack last September when I planned on buying two kayaks on a road trip, but ended up passing on them. Finally got around to getting kayaks earlier this week. We strapped a small 1 person kayak for a 70 mile trip to the water. The rack and straps seemed alright on the way up. Everything worked as needed. I routed straps the same way when I prepared to return home. One ratcheting hook strap snapped on the freeway on my return trip home, luckily I had a nicer strap holding the rear of the kayak, that managed to hold the weight of the entire kayak on the back of my car. Both rack arms that were holding the kayak are bent out of shape and unusable, and the force of the kayak coming loose bent my roof rack which will now need to be replaced. The rack has only been used to pick up my kayak when purchased and one beach trip. Would not recommend purchasing for any needs unless you are going in short trips around town.

Easy to build with a 13mm ratchet wrench
With a 13mm ratchet wrench AND a deep socket 13mm bit and a drill this was a breeze to build. I tried to show the build process with the actual product and not the blurry drawing of the instructions. NOTE: in the photo of all the parts I forgot to put the washers next to the plastic wingnuts - so don’t forget to add those. I also made a build video for this product, so check that out if you are more of a “in person” video person. I ADDED some 1/8th rubber to go between that steel rectangle that mounts with the bolts and the top of my cargo roof rails to protect the metal to metal contact. (See that video for more on that) OVERALL, I am pleased with the apparent quality of the kayak racks. And since they are able to be dismantled that would make it easy to replace the EVA foam if those ever weathered. That last photo was an attempt to show the gauge of the items compared to a standard Craftsman wrench.
