Easily the best caulking gun I'll ever have the pleasure of using.
After well over a decade, possibly more, my old Newborn caulking gun decided to be non functional on me. However, instead of buying another Newborn brand, as most of their caulking guns are made in China, I wanted a caulking gun that was made in USA. Then I found the COX brand and have never looked back since. Not only is half as heavy as my Newborn caulking gun (this caulking gun is made out of quality nylon) but for the first time in all the years of caulking I've done, I finally found a caulking gun that won't cause the caulk I am using to drip. Essentially, this caulking gun incorporates drip free technology. What that means is that I no longer have to do some caulking, then pull back and then resume like I had to for the longest time with my Newborn caulking gun. That used to drive me crazy and not ever having to do that ever again is worth buying alone. What I also really like about this caulking gun is the quality of the plunger and the fact it's all one unit. The Rod is made out quality steel, in addition, this rod has a nice finish as well. In addition, the trigger on this caulking gun significantly much better than my old Newborn. Instead of having to use a great deal of pressure/tension, this trigger usage is rather seamless. An added bonus, this caulking gun comes with a caulk pointer, this was quite useful when I did roof patching and the caulk I used is much denser than the regular types of caulk I use. All and all, this is easily the greatest caulking gun I'll ever use and I only recommend Cox brand caulking guns now. Made in USA, affordable and actually live up their claims on the packaging label. The other caulking gun brands I tried (Workforce, Newborn etc) weren't nearly as good this brand and typically were twice the price, despite the fact their products aren't made in USA or at least not anymore.I highly recommend this and would wager to say, this is a caulking gun that even a professional contractor would use.

Light and effective - my new "old favorite"
Just as good as the first one I bought (still working fine). Lightweight, responsive, releases well, durable. Very happy with these. Way better than the cheapo, metal contractor grade, and lighter and just as good as the pimped-out, fancy ones that cost too much for few additional features. I don't know why anyone would buy the cheapo or the Rolls Royce models after having used this one myself now for over three years. This second one only differs in that it's blue (ILO black, like my old one). Rarely would I get very excited about a tool of this type, but it really is a better idea to make 'em out of composite. How many bent-up metal frames have you chucked...? You can twist this one nearly 180* ... a rep showed me that when I bought the first one at a tradeshow-type event.

This is one GREAT CAULKING GUN!
This lightweight sturdy fiberglass caulk gun is a champion! Smooth operation; easy to maneuver because of its lightweight.

Inexpensive and actually dripless
I have been using and recommending Cox caulk guns for a couple of decades. Despite their simple, lightweight appearance, they are very good to work with and perform as well as guns that are twice or more the price. Dripless with water based caulks and glues. Their only drawback is that the mechanism requires more hand strength than some of the fancier models with more complicated lever systems, so if you are using really stiff compounds you might want to use a different gun.

Great Caulk gun
UPDATE June 2012- still using this same caulk gun. Still works great. Seems very strong and reliable. No issues so far.----------------------------------------------------ORIGINAL ReviewThis is a great caulk gun... I didn't realize it wasn't metal when I ordered it (guess I didn't read very close) but that hasn't been an issue. I've probably used 20 or more tubes of caulk with it now and its still working great. It does a good job of releasing the pressure when you let go... if you are pumping hard on the caulk you might still have to hit the thumb-release to keep the caulk from oozing out. But during normal use it usually doesn't "leak" when you set the gun down. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that it doesn't have a way of cutting the tip off the tube. My old caulk gun (that died after 5 years of use) had a spot on the handle that would cut the tip off the tube. Not a big deal since you are likely to have a razor knife with you anyway. But a potential improvement for the product.

Chalk with cox :)
I had an older model cox made in England chalking gun that I misplaced. It was orange and was missing the poker but it was THE best chalking gun a guy's ever used. It made all the difference when installing windows and siding ect. Your hand isn't sore at the end of a project! I will be painting it orange or pink or something bright. That's my only complaint is the black color makes this thing hard to pick out from most environments. But that's what paint is for I suppose. The older model I had was orange and still disappeared... The only other bad thing about these is there so cool and work so well they attract sticky hands ! Most people have only ever used a China chalking gun and boy what a difference. There's no other way I'd fill a hole than with my cox chalking gun.

By far the best caulk gun
This is the only gun I've used that doesn't ooze compound after you use it. There is a mechanism the lets the ram retract about 1/16" every time you release the grip. That's enough to compensate for the shrinkage of the cartridge when pressure is released, preventing drool. Its also very light and easy to load and clean, and it has no sharp edges to mar your work in tight places.

It will work in a pinch
It works for what it is. It a cheap one tho so u get what u pay for .... Actually should have been cheaper lol the rod the u use to start the tube of caulk is made really bad an incompatible it doesn't lock thus making it a hazard
